Chapter 1618: Waiting for a Suitable Opportunity
After dinner, the three children happily played in a designated area the manager had thoughtfully prepared, filled with toys and games. Meanwhile, Lucian and Roxanne enjoyed the night view from the rooftop.
"Thank you," Roxanne said, offering Lucian a grateful look.
He raised an eyebrow, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Is that all?"
Roxanne considered. "We'll treat Mr. Queen someday. As for you... I haven't decided on a gift yet." She knew a simple thank you wouldn't suffice.
Lucian hugged her from behind, gently trapping her between himself and the railing, and offered her a glass of red wine.
"I don't need gifts," he murmured in her ear. "You've already given me what I wanted long ago." He clinked his glass against hers. "If you really want to thank me..." He whispered something in her ear.
Blushing, Roxanne playfully pressed her wineglass to his lips, protesting, "I need to rest!" She thought, If I didn't know him so well, I'd think he'd spent years gallivanting. How else could he have such a mischievous mind?
Achieving his objective, Lucian sipped her wine and kissed her. Roxanne was momentarily stunned.
"Rest now. We have plenty of opportunities," he said, kissing her again and brushing her lips with his finger.
Roxanne wanted to return to their seats, but Lucian adopted a serious expression. "When are you going to fulfill your promise?"
She hesitated. "I'm waiting for a suitable opportunity."
Lucian, though seeing her concern, didn't understand her worry. Unable to pressure her, he embraced her. "It's fine. I don't mind waiting." The press conference had cleared the air.
With a grateful smile, Roxanne hugged him back. They remained embraced under the moonlight until it grew late.
They returned home with the children, who, having had a wonderful time, fell asleep instantly in the car. Seeing the sleeping children and Lucian's serious expression, Roxanne felt immense happiness. She was content with her life; the only outstanding issue was Sonya's disapproval. I need to work harder on that! she thought.
