Princess Emeriel
โCome, Em, letโs get out of here!โ Aekeira urged, tugging her toward the window.
Emeriel struggled to move. Fear shook her body, but she couldnโt bear to leave her Beloved in this state.
โWe cannot hold him for long!โ Lord Ottai shouted. โWe need to decide what to do before he shifts!โ
โShit! His fist caught my eye!โ Lord Zaiper growled from behind. โWe really need to decide fast.โ
โItโs either knock him out or the forbidden chambers,โ Lord Vladya said, his voice deeper and distorted in his half-shifted form.
Knock him out? The forbidden chambers?
โNo! Donโt!โ Emeriel tried to run to the door, but Aekeira held her back. โDonโt lock him up! Donโt hurt him!โ
โWe might not have a choice, Princess. Weโre trying to save you!โ Lord Ottaiโs hand fisted in the Grand Kingโs hair as Daemonikai struggled harder at the sound of her voice.
โWhat happens to him if he doesnโt satisfy the instinct pulling at him right now?โ she demanded, her voice trembling.
โIt could truly drive him mad,โ Lord Zaiper answered.
โWe can keep knocking him out until we get healers or go to the shrineโฆ or anyone at all who can examine him and tell us what the fuck is going on,โ Lord Vladya said.
Emeriel didnโt like that. โYou canโt keep knocking him out; he is not an animal!โ
โHeโs acting feral; weโre flying blind here! If we donโt act, not just you, but everyone in this fortress is in danger!โ Lord Ottai shot back.
โNow go, Emeriel,โ Lord Vladya added firmly. โItโs bad enough he can smell youโyour voice is only fueling him. Go!โ
She knew they were right, but seeing how they restrained Daemonikai, how he thrashed and fought, hurt her soul. Her entire body quaked.
โFuck! He got my damn nose!โ Lord Zaiper roared, angrily headbutting Daemonikai from behind.
The Grand King retaliated immediately, slamming his head into Zaiperโs so hard the impact echoed around them. Lord Ottai and Lord Vladya winced while Lord Zaiper clutched his head and roared again in pain.
โThatโs going to hurt like a bitch,โ Lord Ottai grimaced.
Emeriel snatched her hand from her sisterโs grasp and rushed to them, ignoring their shouts to stay back.
โLet him go!โ she cried, shoving at Lord Vladya blindly. โLet him go, all of you!โ
Her instincts screamed at her to protect him. Rationally, she knew the others needed protection from the mindless, powerful king. But her brain didnโt care.
โStop hurting him! Let him go!โ she screamed, forcing herself between Lord Vladya and Daemonikai.
The Grand Lord had no choice but to release Daemonikai to avoid hurting her.
โWhatever youโre thinking, itโs a very bad idea,โ Lord Ottai warned.
Daemonikaiโs arms went around her immediately, holding her in a fierce, possessive embrace as he began walking her backward into the room.
Seeing the opportunity, Aekeira slipped past them and bolted for the door. Lord Vladya lunged, catching her as she reached the doorway and holding her securely. Then he turned, his gaze locking onto Emeriel. โDonโt do this, Emeriel. Donโt.โ
Emeriel tried to peer around his wide arm. โIโm the one he wants, isnโt it? Thereโs no need for everyone else to get hurt.โ
Her Belovedโs grip tightened possessively on her buttock, digging his claws into her skin in a way that was both painfully sexual and raw. She bit her lip hard against the sting.
โDonโt make him do this, Emeriel,โ Lord Vladya implored, shaking his head. โHe will never forgive himself for it.โ
She blinked back tears, managing a faint, pained smile. โJust like he would never forgive himself for hurting youโฆ or youโฆโ Her eyes flicked between Vladya and Lord Ottai, and even to Lord Zaiper, whose face was already swollen. โYou once told me no one who values their life gets between a Urekai predator and his prey.โ
โYes, but then I was unwilling to risk anything. I barely cared about anything,โ Vladyaโs voice was strained, filled with urgency. โNow Iโm willing to risk it all. Just say the word, and I will come in there and get you, no matter the cost.โ
The sound of her garment tearing was loud in the chamber. A tear rolled down her cheek.
โEmeriel, please,โ Lord Ottai added quickly. โHe will really hurt you.โ
โI canโt let him suffer. I donโt want him imprisoned again.โ Emeriel glanced at his unfocused eyes as another tear escaped. โHe is mine, and Iโm not forsaking him in a time like this. Never again. Now close the door!โ
โYou donโt understandโhe may kill you, Emeriel!โ Vladya shouted.
Behind him, Aekeira sobbed. โPlease, listen to them, Em!โ
โI took him before when he was like thisโโ
โItโs not the same!โ Lord Ottai interjected sharply. โYou were in heat then. His beast still recognized you. This isnโt recognition; itโs pure instinct: to fuck, feed, and kill!โ
โPlease, Em, listen to them!โ Aekeira cried desperately. โYou remember how it was in the beginning? Itโs not going to be pleasantโyou may not survive!โ
Grand Lord Vladya
He was frustrated and desperate. His heart ached, his mind reeled. What was happening to his friend was beyond comprehension; insane, inexplicable. But worse still was his femaleโs choice to satisfy his basic instincts in this state.
The girl was visibly terrified. Her body trembled like a leaf, and her wide blue eyes brimmed with fear. Yet, she clung to Daemonikai, refusing to let him go. Vladya could already smell blood. Daemonikai was hurting her, and he hadnโt even mounted her yet. Her clothes were torn, leaving her naked, though his huge frame shielded her from view.
Ottai was still arguing, trying to reason with her. โThis is madness! You have toโโ
But Vladya could see the truth in her eyes. Alongside the fear was an unshakeable determination. She wasnโt going to leave Daemonikai in this state, wasnโt going to risk true madnessโฆ no matter the cost to her. Even if it meant unimaginable pain at his hands.
โI have never met a woman as stubborn as you!โ Ottai roared, throwing his hands up. Then his face crumpled, revealing the misery underneath. โPlease, Emeriel, donโt do this. Let us take you out of there!โ
Fresh tears streamed down the princessโs cheeks, but she smiled through them, shaking her head. โIโm not leaving him.โ
