Princess Emeriel

โ€œCome, Em, letโ€™s get out of here!โ€ Aekeira urged, tugging her toward the window.

Emeriel struggled to move. Fear shook her body, but she couldnโ€™t bear to leave her Beloved in this state.

โ€œWe cannot hold him for long!โ€ Lord Ottai shouted. โ€œWe need to decide what to do before he shifts!โ€

โ€œShit! His fist caught my eye!โ€ Lord Zaiper growled from behind. โ€œWe really need to decide fast.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s either knock him out or the forbidden chambers,โ€ Lord Vladya said, his voice deeper and distorted in his half-shifted form.

Knock him out? The forbidden chambers?

โ€œNo! Donโ€™t!โ€ Emeriel tried to run to the door, but Aekeira held her back. โ€œDonโ€™t lock him up! Donโ€™t hurt him!โ€

โ€œWe might not have a choice, Princess. Weโ€™re trying to save you!โ€ Lord Ottaiโ€™s hand fisted in the Grand Kingโ€™s hair as Daemonikai struggled harder at the sound of her voice.

โ€œWhat happens to him if he doesnโ€™t satisfy the instinct pulling at him right now?โ€ she demanded, her voice trembling.

โ€œIt could truly drive him mad,โ€ Lord Zaiper answered.

โ€œWe can keep knocking him out until we get healers or go to the shrineโ€ฆ or anyone at all who can examine him and tell us what the fuck is going on,โ€ Lord Vladya said.

Emeriel didnโ€™t like that. โ€œYou canโ€™t keep knocking him out; he is not an animal!โ€

โ€œHeโ€™s acting feral; weโ€™re flying blind here! If we donโ€™t act, not just you, but everyone in this fortress is in danger!โ€ Lord Ottai shot back.

โ€œNow go, Emeriel,โ€ Lord Vladya added firmly. โ€œItโ€™s bad enough he can smell youโ€”your voice is only fueling him. Go!โ€

She knew they were right, but seeing how they restrained Daemonikai, how he thrashed and fought, hurt her soul. Her entire body quaked.

โ€œFuck! He got my damn nose!โ€ Lord Zaiper roared, angrily headbutting Daemonikai from behind.

The Grand King retaliated immediately, slamming his head into Zaiperโ€™s so hard the impact echoed around them. Lord Ottai and Lord Vladya winced while Lord Zaiper clutched his head and roared again in pain.

โ€œThatโ€™s going to hurt like a bitch,โ€ Lord Ottai grimaced.

Emeriel snatched her hand from her sisterโ€™s grasp and rushed to them, ignoring their shouts to stay back.

โ€œLet him go!โ€ she cried, shoving at Lord Vladya blindly. โ€œLet him go, all of you!โ€

Her instincts screamed at her to protect him. Rationally, she knew the others needed protection from the mindless, powerful king. But her brain didnโ€™t care.

โ€œStop hurting him! Let him go!โ€ she screamed, forcing herself between Lord Vladya and Daemonikai.

The Grand Lord had no choice but to release Daemonikai to avoid hurting her.

โ€œWhatever youโ€™re thinking, itโ€™s a very bad idea,โ€ Lord Ottai warned.

Daemonikaiโ€™s arms went around her immediately, holding her in a fierce, possessive embrace as he began walking her backward into the room.

Seeing the opportunity, Aekeira slipped past them and bolted for the door. Lord Vladya lunged, catching her as she reached the doorway and holding her securely. Then he turned, his gaze locking onto Emeriel. โ€œDonโ€™t do this, Emeriel. Donโ€™t.โ€

Emeriel tried to peer around his wide arm. โ€œIโ€™m the one he wants, isnโ€™t it? Thereโ€™s no need for everyone else to get hurt.โ€

Her Belovedโ€™s grip tightened possessively on her buttock, digging his claws into her skin in a way that was both painfully sexual and raw. She bit her lip hard against the sting.

โ€œDonโ€™t make him do this, Emeriel,โ€ Lord Vladya implored, shaking his head. โ€œHe will never forgive himself for it.โ€

She blinked back tears, managing a faint, pained smile. โ€œJust like he would never forgive himself for hurting youโ€ฆ or youโ€ฆโ€ Her eyes flicked between Vladya and Lord Ottai, and even to Lord Zaiper, whose face was already swollen. โ€œYou once told me no one who values their life gets between a Urekai predator and his prey.โ€

โ€œYes, but then I was unwilling to risk anything. I barely cared about anything,โ€ Vladyaโ€™s voice was strained, filled with urgency. โ€œNow Iโ€™m willing to risk it all. Just say the word, and I will come in there and get you, no matter the cost.โ€

The sound of her garment tearing was loud in the chamber. A tear rolled down her cheek.

โ€œEmeriel, please,โ€ Lord Ottai added quickly. โ€œHe will really hurt you.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t let him suffer. I donโ€™t want him imprisoned again.โ€ Emeriel glanced at his unfocused eyes as another tear escaped. โ€œHe is mine, and Iโ€™m not forsaking him in a time like this. Never again. Now close the door!โ€

โ€œYou donโ€™t understandโ€”he may kill you, Emeriel!โ€ Vladya shouted.

Behind him, Aekeira sobbed. โ€œPlease, listen to them, Em!โ€

โ€œI took him before when he was like thisโ€”โ€

โ€œItโ€™s not the same!โ€ Lord Ottai interjected sharply. โ€œYou were in heat then. His beast still recognized you. This isnโ€™t recognition; itโ€™s pure instinct: to fuck, feed, and kill!โ€

โ€œPlease, Em, listen to them!โ€ Aekeira cried desperately. โ€œYou remember how it was in the beginning? Itโ€™s not going to be pleasantโ€”you may not survive!โ€

Grand Lord Vladya

He was frustrated and desperate. His heart ached, his mind reeled. What was happening to his friend was beyond comprehension; insane, inexplicable. But worse still was his femaleโ€™s choice to satisfy his basic instincts in this state.

The girl was visibly terrified. Her body trembled like a leaf, and her wide blue eyes brimmed with fear. Yet, she clung to Daemonikai, refusing to let him go. Vladya could already smell blood. Daemonikai was hurting her, and he hadnโ€™t even mounted her yet. Her clothes were torn, leaving her naked, though his huge frame shielded her from view.

Ottai was still arguing, trying to reason with her. โ€œThis is madness! You have toโ€”โ€

But Vladya could see the truth in her eyes. Alongside the fear was an unshakeable determination. She wasnโ€™t going to leave Daemonikai in this state, wasnโ€™t going to risk true madnessโ€ฆ no matter the cost to her. Even if it meant unimaginable pain at his hands.

โ€œI have never met a woman as stubborn as you!โ€ Ottai roared, throwing his hands up. Then his face crumpled, revealing the misery underneath. โ€œPlease, Emeriel, donโ€™t do this. Let us take you out of there!โ€

Fresh tears streamed down the princessโ€™s cheeks, but she smiled through them, shaking her head. โ€œIโ€™m not leaving him.โ€
