Chapter 395: Ye Moโ€™s Power

Qiu Zhixue stared dumbly at the departing Flying Leopard squad. Witnessing Zhu Hongshengโ€™s respect for Ye Mo, even an idiot would know Ye Mo was no ordinary person. He was scared.

Li Qiuyang gave Qiu Zhixue a cold look. Few in Beijing were significant to him, but Qiu Zhixue was one. He was cool-headed and skilled, but today heโ€™d made a critical mistake: offending Ye Mo. This pleased Li Qiuyang.

Qiu Zhixue saw the ridicule in Li Qiuyangโ€™s eyes.

Just then, a ringtone broke the tension.

โ€œSecond Uncle? Yes, Iโ€™m already at Wu Tong Barโ€”โ€ Qiu Zhixueโ€™s voice trailed off.

His second uncleโ€™s desperate voice cut him short: โ€œZhixue, do nothing! Recall everyone immediately. Iโ€™ll be there soon. That person is untouchable. Heโ€™s Ye Mo.โ€

Qiu Zhixueโ€™s mind buzzed. Few were untouchable in Beijing, but Ye Mo was number one. He was dumbfounded; this person was that Ye Mo.

Qiu Zhixue was proud. Since coming to Beijing, heโ€™d heard of Ye Mo but dismissed him. After all, he was just one person.

Though rumors claimed Ye Mo single-handedly took down the Song family, Qiu Zhixueโ€™s investigation revealed the Song familyโ€™s downfall stemmed from internal fear and subsequent attacks by political enemies.

Ye Moโ€™s impact was minimal. Afterward, he faded from Beijing high society, disappearing for a long time. This led Qiu Zhixue to underestimate him, failing to connect โ€˜Young Master Moโ€™ with Ye Mo.

Today, he witnessed Ye Moโ€™s power firsthand. Even the Flying Leopard captain was deferential. This made Qiu Zhixue reassess Ye Mo. Even without his uncleโ€™s call, he would have retreated.

A black Mercedes screeched to a halt beside Qiu Zhixue. Two men emerged.

โ€œGrandpa!โ€ Qiu Zhixue was shocked. Besides his second uncle, his grandfather had arrived in person. His expression was grim. Qiu Zhixue knew this was serious.

His grandfather, his face green, walked over and slapped him.

โ€œI thought youโ€™d be an asset to the Qiu family, but youโ€™re hopeless.โ€

After slapping Qiu Zhixue, he ignored the fallen Qiu Dongchen and went to Ye Moโ€™s room.

โ€œWill you stop the police? Do you want the entire Qiu family wiped out?โ€ the man following him yelled.

โ€œI understand, Second Uncle.โ€ Qiu Zhixue realized the situation was far more complex than he imagined. Heโ€™d been too impulsive.

Seeing Qiu Zhixue disperse the police, his second uncle grabbed him and followed his grandfather into Ye Moโ€™s room.

Li Qiuyang stood and greeted politely, โ€œOld Man Qiuโ€ฆโ€

Ye Mo quickly identified the Qiu family head. He understood the old manโ€™s arrival, but he disliked these self-important elders. He doubted the old man was unaware of Qiu Zhixueโ€™s actions.

Had he not met him today, would Shi Xiu have been killed? This world felt increasingly like his old one.

He waved a hand. โ€œMy principle is to not offend those who donโ€™t offend me. Offend me, and the result will be the same.โ€

โ€œYoung Master Mo, donโ€™t worry, there will be no second Qiu Zhixue. Zhixue, apologize!โ€ Qiu Zhongxin yelled at Qiu Zhixue.

Ye Mo scanned Qiu Zhixue. He disliked him, but couldn't act arbitrarily. If he werenโ€™t a cultivator, this man wouldnโ€™t live. He was terrifying.

Receiving Qiu Zhixueโ€™s apology, Ye Mo said plainly, โ€œNo need. Your family was careless in choosing friends. Someone tricked Qiu Zhixue into attacking my friend. As for Hu Peng, he neednโ€™t go to Xi Tong Town. Someone else will handle it. Thank you.โ€

Though subtle, Qiu Zhongxin understood Ye Mo would replace their man in Xi Tong Town. He said nothing and left with the others.

Cheng Changhui and Zhou Ping were dumbfounded. Though they didnโ€™t understand Ye Moโ€™s power, they knew he was someone to revere. They stood silently.

These powerful figures, usually seen only from afar, all bowed before Ye Mo. This made Zhou Ping decide to curry favor with Shi Xiu. Shi Xiu, however, was equally stunned.

After the Qiu familyโ€™s departure, Li Qiuyang asked, โ€œBrother Ye, what do you need from this young man?โ€

Wu Ze sat beside them. Li Qiuyangโ€™s approving glance told him heโ€™d hit the jackpot. Heโ€™d made the right choice. A bright future awaited if he avoided mistakes.

Ye Mo smiled. โ€œI need Young Master Liโ€™s help. Mayor Wu, explain my idea to him.โ€

Wu Ze quickly relayed Ye Moโ€™s request. Even if Ye Mo blocked Luo Yue from Xi Tong, he would still work for him.

Moreover, thanks to Ye Mo, the Qiu family wouldnโ€™t send Hu Peng to Xi Tong Town. This simplified Shi Xiuโ€™s situation.

Shi Xiu looked at Ye Mo in joyous disbelief. Ye Moโ€™s words had come true. He was now a vice-mayor. The โ€˜viceโ€™ would be temporary.

He felt distanced from Ye Mo. Ye Mo wasn't like this before. He used to be like him, an outcast.

Things had gone remarkably well. Ye Mo promised, โ€œYoung Master Li, I owe you one. I wonโ€™t forget this.โ€

Li Qiuyang raised his glass. โ€œA small matter. Call on me anytime. With your permission, call me Qiuyang.โ€

Ye Mo nodded and turned to Zhou Ping. โ€œMayor Zhou, youโ€™ll be in Xi Tong longest. My friend was mistreated and forced into a high-interest loan. I suspect local underworld involvement. Your thoughts?โ€

Zhou Ping stood. โ€œSuch groups are prime targets. Mayor Shi is becoming my colleague. We'll need his cooperation to eradicate them and ensure a brighter future for Xi Tong Town.โ€

This was exactly what Ye Mo wanted. Wu Ze would be new to Xi Tong Town; Shi Xiu even more so. With Zhou Pingโ€™s help, punishing Shi Xiuโ€™s tormentors would be easy.

Li Chunsheng stood and raised his glass. โ€œYoung Master Mo, I didnโ€™t expect Shi Xiuโ€™s Xi Tong transfer to be so swift. Iโ€™m stationed in He Feng City; perhaps weโ€™ll cooperate. I toast to Young Master Mo, and to Mayor Shi.โ€

Li Chunsheng, a major city mayor, emphasized future contact with Shi Xiu, all thanks to Ye Mo. He was glad heโ€™d come. Even Qiu Zhongxin bowed to Ye Mo. Ye Moโ€™s power far surpassed his expectations.

Ye Mo had helped Shi Xiu, so he couldnโ€™t ignore Li Chunsheng and raised his cup.

Shi Xiu, even if slow-witted, wouldnโ€™t ignore a mayorโ€™s toast. He raised his glass, approaching Li Chunsheng. โ€œI still have much to learn; I hope for your future guidance, Mayor Li.โ€
