Chapter 685 Donโ€™t You Dare Die

โ€œWell, damn.โ€

Lydia was making her way down the stairs, intending to follow Dalton and Meryl. With her pregnant belly, she moved cautiously, terrified of anything happening to her unborn child.

But who couldโ€™ve guessed that with just a few steps left, a black rat would suddenly dart out?

The sight made Lydia jump right where she stood.

Then came the disaster. Her foot slipped, and she did a full split right there on the stairs.

The pain was excruciating, making her feel like her leg might be broken, especially her inner thigh, which hurt like hell.

After finally managing to adjust her position, Lydia immediately tried to call for help. She couldnโ€™t even move an inch now. It felt like her pubic bone was about to split apart.

Sheโ€™d heard some commotion outside just moments ago, including what sounded like Daltonโ€™s voice. Lydia figured he couldnโ€™t be far.

โ€œDaltonโ€ฆ help me!โ€

โ€œI fell, Dalton, are you there?โ€ Lydia cried out in agony.

In the underground parking garage, Felix had already taken Meryl into his arms.

He walked step by step toward his car.

Dalton didnโ€™t want to give up just like that and was about to follow them when he heard Lydiaโ€™s painful wails coming from the stairwell.

โ€œDaltonโ€ฆโ€ Lydia called out even louder, afraid he wouldnโ€™t listen to her.

Daltonโ€™s temple twitched, her cries grating on his already frayed nerves.

โ€œDalton, if you donโ€™t come now, your son and I wonโ€™t make it out of here alive!โ€

Only then did Dalton reluctantly head toward the stairwell.

โ€œUghโ€ฆ I think I broke something,โ€ Lydia sat on the ground, unable to stand.

She looked up at Dalton with a pitiful expression, reaching out both hands toward him.

For some reason, looking at Lydia now, all Dalton could see was the image of Meryl covered in blood.

โ€œDalton, why is there so much blood on your hands? I heard fighting outside earlier. What happened?โ€ Lydia asked deliberately.

Daltonโ€™s lips moved, but an overwhelming sense of exhaustion made him reluctant to speak.

โ€œIโ€™ll take you to the hospital.โ€

He slipped his arms under Lydiaโ€™s knees and lifted her in one motion.

When they returned to the underground garage, Rocky had already been subdued by several mall security guards, with Philip staying behind to handle the aftermath.

Seeing Rocky lying on the ground covered in blood, his lower half soaked in some unknown liquid, Lydia pretended to be frightened and curled deeper into Daltonโ€™s arms.

โ€œDalton, why is Rocky here? Did he really get out of prison? Was he just trying to get revenge on Meryl? I swear I had nothing to do with this. You have to believe me. Look, I even fell myself.โ€

Lydia clung to Daltonโ€™s neck, desperately trying to explain herself.

But Dalton was already lost in his thoughts. He just stared blankly ahead, not responding to Lydiaโ€™s words at all, moving forward like a puppet on strings.

Seeing that Dalton wasnโ€™t listening, Lydia fell silent. That fall had really hurt. Sheโ€™d hit the ground hard. She worried about whether the baby in her belly was affected.

But what really threw her was how easily Rocky had been caught. It wasnโ€™t part of the plan.

โ€œThat idiot! What was he thinking, starting a fight in the middle of the mall?โ€ she fumed inwardly.

Sheโ€™d only wanted him to find a way to make Meryl lose the baby, not attack her in front of everyone.

With all the security guards at the mall, he might as well have turned himself in!

Still, Lydia wasnโ€™t worried about Rocky ratting her out.

After all, she was the only one who could save him now.

Felix rushed to the car, carrying Meryl in his arms.

They were in Galeโ€™s car, and when Gale saw Meryl covered in blood, he was overcome with guilt. โ€œMrs. Aniston!โ€

Heโ€™d only been gone for a short while! How could Meryl have gotten hurt in that time?

Gale had seen that small truck rampaging through the parking garage, but he never imagined Meryl was its target!

Merylโ€™s lips were pale with pain, and she couldnโ€™t speak.

Lying in the backseat, she opened her mouth to speak, but before she could, Felixโ€™s mouth filled with blood.

From her experience, Meryl could tell at a glance that Felixโ€™s injuries were just as severe as hers.

Meryl struggled to speak. โ€œAre you crazy?โ€

She never expected Felix would rush out to save her at this crucial moment.

Seeing his complete disregard for his safety made her eyes well up with tears.

Plus, he was clearly severely hurt, yet he still carried her to the carโ€ฆ With injuries to his internal organs, wasnโ€™t he just asking for death?

โ€œThis wonโ€™t do. Take off your shoes.โ€

Felix raised an eyebrow. โ€œWhy take off my shoes?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re bleeding internally. Iโ€™m trying to stop it, or youโ€™ll die.โ€ Meryl instantly spotted the issue just by looking at Felixโ€™s complexion.

Multiple organs were hemorrhaging. It was a serious situation.

Felix leaned back against the chair, taking deep breaths in a desperate attempt to manage the pain.

โ€œWorry about yourself. Iโ€™m too tough for the Grim Reaper to take.โ€ As he spoke, more blood spilled from his mouth.

โ€œIโ€™m not joking. Youโ€™re way worse off than me. Without immediate treatment for the bleeding, you wonโ€™t make it.โ€

โ€œWho cares if this worthless life ends? Let it.โ€

โ€œFelix!โ€

Meryl knew she was going into labor.

That car impact likely caused placental abruption.

She had no experience with childbirth and could only wait for doctors at the hospital to handle it.

Suppose the baby survived, great. If notโ€ฆ that was fate.

But Felix was different.

Felix was right here beside her, and she could provide some emergency care.

Every second counted with internal bleeding. She couldnโ€™t just watch Felix suffer without doing anything.

โ€œTake off your shoe!โ€ she yelled, โ€œFind the acupoint on the inside of his big toe and press down hard! Keep pressing it until we get to the hospital. Itโ€™ll help stop the bleeding!โ€

Gale wasnโ€™t wasting any time either, running two red lights just as a call came through.

It was Chandler.

โ€œSir, Mrs. Anistonโ€™s in trouble! Weโ€™re almost at the hospital!โ€

Meryl suddenly went silent, though the call was still connected. Chandler could tell from the commotion on the other end that she must be seriously injured.

Chandler ordered Walter to speed up. โ€œWhich hospital? Iโ€™m heading there now.โ€

There was nothing more devastating than hearing the woman you love get hurt over the phone, completely powerless to help.

Chandler wished he could teleport to Merylโ€™s side.

โ€œSirโ€ฆ Mrs. Anistonโ€™s lost a lot of blood.โ€

Chandlerโ€™s heart sank. โ€œGot it. Just focus on driving!โ€

The tenโ€“minute drive to the hospital felt endless. When they arrived, emergency staff rushed out with two stretchers.

Gale scrambled to keep up. As paramedics lifted Meryl onto a stretcher, Felix had already lost consciousness from his severe injuries.

He was in shock.

Her instincts had been right. Felixโ€™s internal bleeding was severe.

That idiotโ€ฆ Despite being so badly hurt, heโ€™d still insisted on carrying her away from Daltonโ€ฆ

If he hadnโ€™t forced himself to carry her, he probably wouldnโ€™t have made his injuries even worse!

Meryl watched him with tearโ€“filled eyes.

โ€œFelix, donโ€™t you dare die!โ€

Internal bleeding was like dancing with death. If he died trying to save herโ€ฆ

The medical staff rushed the stretchers down the corridor before separating them into different emergency rooms.

Felix lay there with his eyes closed. The usually carefree man now had no response to Merylโ€™s pleading voice.
