Chapter 50
Andrew calmly stated, โThis isnโt just local wine; no winery could produce it.โ
His statement angered Irene, who barked, โAndrew, would it kill you to stop bragging? If itโs not local, what is itโsome mythical elixir?โ
โActually, yes,โ Andrew replied, causing the Stevens family to freeze before erupting in laughter. They thought he was making a fool of himself. Even Harvey smirked, insulted that Andrew would dare compare himself to him.
Douglas gently patted Andrewโs shoulder. โAndy, even if our wine isnโt the best, thereโs no need to compete. Remember, if youโre truly exceptional, others will naturally recognize it.โ
Andrew nodded. โWise words, Mr. Stevens Senior. Iโll keep them in mind.โ
Christina shook her head, thinking how pathetic Andrew was for not understanding her grandfather's subtle hint.
โWell, well, it looks like the partyโs started without me!โ a new voice announced.
It was Gerald Stevens, Douglasโs brother, an antique dealer in Chetvine, the capital city.
Douglas smiled. โGerald, perfect timing! Join us for a drink. We have plenty of fine wines tonight!โ
Irene interjected, โUncle Gerald appreciates only the finest wine. Iโm sure heโll love what Harvey brought.โ
Leroy poured wine for Gerald, saying, โUncle Gerald, this is a 50-year-old wine from Harvey. Please try it!โ
Geraldโs face lit up. โWhat a treat! Donโt mind if I do!โ
He was about to reach for it when he spotted the wine before Douglas. His expression changed dramatically as he snatched Andrewโs wine instead, leaving everyone stunned.
Irene cried out, โUncle Gerald, donโt! Thatโs cheapโput it down!โ
Gerald inhaled the wineโs aroma, ignoring Irene. Then, he gulped the entire glass down. His face showed pure bliss as he exclaimed, โI never imagined Iโd find this divine nectar in Jayrodale! Where did you get this incredible wine? Iโll pay 750 thousand dollars for whateverโs left, bottle and all!โ
The entire Stevens family, including Harvey, sat speechless.
Gerald urged them on. โWell, what are you waiting for? Get me the rest! Do you even know what this is? Itโs literally liquid gold!โ
The family was dumbfounded.
Desperate to make sense of it, Irene protested, โUncle Gerald, are you drunk? This is garbage, not liquid gold!โ
Gerald scowled. โSuch ignorance! Iโve lived in Chetvine for years! Do you think you know better than me? I once tasted half a glass of this at a noble familyโs home there, and Iโve never forgotten it!โ
The family turned to Andrew, who remained composed. โThis wine lives up to its name as Divine Elixir. And yes, it does have connections to Chetvine.โ
Gerald nodded approvingly. โWell said. You seem to be the only knowledgeable one here. I assume youโre the one who brought this wine?โ
