Andrew frowned at the arrogant woman before him. Though attractive, her superior attitude was unbearable.

Dylan asked, surprised, “I presume this is Aspen Stevens of the Bridgefields Stevens family?”

Aspen smiled condescendingly. “Mr. Garner, I’m surprised you know me. I didn’t realize my reputation extended so far into Jayrodale.”

“You are indeed known for your business acumen and martial arts skills,” Dylan said coldly. “However, this is Jayrodale, not Bridgefields, and such an attitude may not serve you well here.”

Aspen responded confidently, “Mr. Garner, you should worry about yourself. I hear South City is about to fall to Mr. Giordano from the Northern District. Conveniently, I have a good relationship with Mr. Giordano. If you ask nicely, I might put in a good word for South City.”

Dylan scoffed. “Who do you think you are? Even with your capabilities, you’re an outsider, and Jayrodale’s underground affairs don’t need your interference.”

Aspen’s eyes narrowed. “No wonder you’ve amounted to nothing. Instead of managing South City, you’re here defending some kept man. Don’t you think that’s beneath your position?”

Dylan was furious at her disrespect toward Andrew.

“Let’s handle our business. There’s no need to stoop to their level,” Andrew said calmly.

Dylan laughed. “You’re right, Mr. Lloyd, although that barb stung. A bitch’s bite is the worst, you know.”

“What did you just say?” Aspen’s face froze.

Christina’s expression changed. “Andrew, that was too far! Apologize to Aspen, and I’ll ensure she drops this.”

“Apologize? For what?” Andrew replied wryly. “If I recall, your dear Aspen started this.”

Christina gritted her teeth. “Aspen’s outspoken, but she meant no harm. Is that how you speak to a woman?”

“Christie, don’t waste your breath on such crude people,” Aspen interrupted with a cold laugh. Turning to Andrew, she continued, “I heard you helped the Stevens family against the Weller family. Christie couldn’t stop praising you, and I thought you had potential. I even considered that, if you proved worthy, you and Christie getting back together wouldn't be so bad. But now I see you’re just a manipulative opportunist.”

“What kind of person I am isn’t your concern,” Andrew shrugged. “And are all Stevens this dense? Who told you I wanted to get back with Christina?”

Aspen sneered. “Oh, you didn’t? Then why go to such lengths to involve Mr. Stevens Senior?”

“When did I approach Mr. Stevens Senior?” Andrew asked, frowning.

“Still denying it?” Aspen crossed her arms. “Christie might be naive, but I’m not easily fooled.”
