Chapter 291
Andrew frowned at the arrogant woman before him. Though attractive, her superior attitude was unbearable.
Dylan asked, surprised, โI presume this is Aspen Stevens of the Bridgefields Stevens family?โ
Aspen smiled condescendingly. โMr. Garner, Iโm surprised you know me. I didnโt realize my reputation extended so far into Jayrodale.โ
โYou are indeed known for your business acumen and martial arts skills,โ Dylan said coldly. โHowever, this is Jayrodale, not Bridgefields, and such an attitude may not serve you well here.โ
Aspen responded confidently, โMr. Garner, you should worry about yourself. I hear South City is about to fall to Mr. Giordano from the Northern District. Conveniently, I have a good relationship with Mr. Giordano. If you ask nicely, I might put in a good word for South City.โ
Dylan scoffed. โWho do you think you are? Even with your capabilities, youโre an outsider, and Jayrodaleโs underground affairs donโt need your interference.โ
Aspenโs eyes narrowed. โNo wonder youโve amounted to nothing. Instead of managing South City, youโre here defending some kept man. Donโt you think thatโs beneath your position?โ
Dylan was furious at her disrespect toward Andrew.
โLetโs handle our business. Thereโs no need to stoop to their level,โ Andrew said calmly.
Dylan laughed. โYouโre right, Mr. Lloyd, although that barb stung. A bitchโs bite is the worst, you know.โ
โWhat did you just say?โ Aspenโs face froze.
Christinaโs expression changed. โAndrew, that was too far! Apologize to Aspen, and Iโll ensure she drops this.โ
โApologize? For what?โ Andrew replied wryly. โIf I recall, your dear Aspen started this.โ
Christina gritted her teeth. โAspenโs outspoken, but she meant no harm. Is that how you speak to a woman?โ
โChristie, donโt waste your breath on such crude people,โ Aspen interrupted with a cold laugh. Turning to Andrew, she continued, โI heard you helped the Stevens family against the Weller family. Christie couldnโt stop praising you, and I thought you had potential. I even considered that, if you proved worthy, you and Christie getting back together wouldn't be so bad. But now I see youโre just a manipulative opportunist.โ
โWhat kind of person I am isnโt your concern,โ Andrew shrugged. โAnd are all Stevens this dense? Who told you I wanted to get back with Christina?โ
Aspen sneered. โOh, you didnโt? Then why go to such lengths to involve Mr. Stevens Senior?โ
โWhen did I approach Mr. Stevens Senior?โ Andrew asked, frowning.
โStill denying it?โ Aspen crossed her arms. โChristie might be naive, but Iโm not easily fooled.โ
