Andrew gritted his teeth and made a desperate decision. โFine, if you want to kill someone, go ahead and kill me too!โ
Shilohโs small fist finally stopped just inches from Andrewโs nose. Her face remained cold as she hissed, โThis is the first time, and itโs the last time! If you ever dare to interfere with my business again, I wonโt spare you!โ
With that, her figure flickered, disappearing into the forest in just a few moves.
โWhere are you going?โ Andrew called after her, but there was no answer.
He sighed inwardly, guessing that after regaining her identity and fragments of memory, Shiloh might return to her familyโs old home. As for where she would go after that or what she planned to do, he had no way of knowing.
โYoung man, since youโre tangled with that monster, youโll end up in hell sooner or later!โ Ernesto rasped. He had barely survived and was sitting upright with a face full of cold fury.
Andrew shot him a glance and sneered. โYou can barely keep yourself alive, yet you still have the nerve to lecture me. If I hadnโt spoken up for you just now, do you even realize how miserable your death would have been?โ
Ernesto snapped back, โDid I ask you to plead for me? Iโve traveled the world, and Iโve seen everything. If it werenโt for my lack of preparation, she never wouldโve escaped. Iโll give her that much.โ
Andrew smirked. โAnd you still have the nerve to brag? Youโre nothing special. If I hadnโt stopped Shiloh, youโd be dead a dozen times over.โ
Ernestoโs face twisted with shame and rage. Deep down, he knew Andrew was right. It was only thanks to his intervention that both he and Morgan survived. Yet, it was the kind of truth he would rather die than admit, especially since he considered Andrew a nobody, not even worth his glance.
The cruel irony was that the same nobody had saved his life, and the thought made him burn with humiliation.
Andrewโs voice suddenly turned quiet. โWith your injuries, you couldnโt even handle a small fry right now, could you?โ
Ernesto stiffened. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
Andrew grinned. โWhat do I mean? Simple. Kill you here and now, make sure no one ever finds your body.โ
Ernestoโs eyes widened. โYou wouldnโt dare!โ
Andrewโs expression hardened. โLetโs find out.โ
Seeing that Andrew might actually finish him off, Ernestoโs expression finally changed.
He had just barely escaped death at Shilohโs hands; was he really about to die at the hands of an unknown nobody?
His strength was already drained to nothing. If Andrew wanted him dead, it would be far too easy.
Then Andrew chuckled. โRelax, I was just messing with you. Mistveil Peakโs youngest so-called master? Please. Youโd be better off as a street scammer. At least then you wouldnโt look so pathetic. After all, youโre nothing but a coward anyway!โ
Andrew was really enjoying himself now. He had been annoyed with this pretentious holy man for a while. He was just like Luna, always putting on airs.
Ernesto let out a furious shout. โYou bastard, how dare you insult me?โ
Getting too worked up, he started coughing violently with blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
Andrew clicked his tongue. โIโd advise you to calm down a bit, or you might accidentally kill yourself! Then, Mistveil Peak would really be in the spotlight!โ
Ernesto was seething with hatred inside, but he did not dare get angry again. He quickly sat cross-legged to meditate and regulate his breathing.
Andrew noticed the emerald pendant at Ernestoโs waist. It had a lustrous, warm glow, was palm-sized, and had a griffin carved in the center. It was obviously valuable.
Without any hesitation, he snatched it away and said with a grin, โIโll take this as payment for saving your life. Donโt feel bad about itโฆ Iโm not a greedy person.โ
