Chapter 113
โI just donโt want someone twisting the truth and taking credit for another personโs hard work,โ Andrew said calmly.
Harvey shook his head with a wry smile. โAndrew, your bias against me keeps growing, and I donโt even know what I did to offend you.โ He pulled out his phone, showing Christina, Irene, and the others his call history. โLook, I called Mr. Thatcher an hour ago. Hereโs the proof.โ
โNow, what do you have to say for yourself?โ Irene shouted at Andrew.
Leroy smirked. โMr. Thatcher obviously came to help because of Harveyโs call. Andrew, stop trying to compete with Harveyโheโs out of your league.โ
Harvey sighed dramatically. โActually, I didnโt just call Mr. Thatcher. I also had our family connections ready, along with several other powerful allies. I could have had people here in minutes if Christie needed them.โ
โHarvey, youโre absolutely incredible!โ Leroy exclaimed, giving him a thumbs-up.
Andrew shook his head, amazed at how the Stevens family could construct such an elaborate narrative from a simple phone record. Without him, they wouldn't have stood a chance against Nelson. Mark was too experienced for such a simple explanation. He probably knew about Nelson's shady dealings but had no reason to act. Yet, they believed Mark would have taken down one of his own men out of some sense of justice. Politicians like Mark were experts at weighing their options. To him, sacrificing Nelson was a small price to keep Andrew appeased.
Christina invited Andrew again, though her warmth had cooled considerably. โMr. Lloyd, please join us for dinner. Besides showing our gratitude, I have some business matters to discuss with you.โ Her tone had become noticeably more formal.
โWe should definitely treat Andrew to dinner,โ Harvey remarked earnestly. โChristie, let me handle thisโitโs my treat.โ
Soon, they arrived at an upscale private restaurant. Irene commented, โHarvey, this place looks expensive.โ
Harvey chuckled. โDonโt worry, Mrs. Stevens. The important thing is that we enjoy ourselves. Moneyโs no object.โ
โChristie, why donโt you all go ahead and order? Iโd like to chat with Andrew and get to know him better.โ
Irene rolled her eyes and muttered sarcastically, โHarveyโs truly perfect. Someone could learn from his example.โ
Harveyโs smile vanished as soon as the Stevens family left, replaced by a sinister expression. โListen here, Andrew. If you mess this up for me, I have a thousand ways to end you. Donโt think being Mr. Thatcherโs new favorite means you can interfere with my plans. Iโve put up with you stealing what should have been mine for far too long!โ His face was contorted with anger, all pretense gone.
Andrew remained perfectly calm. โIs that a threat?โ
