Chapter 186: The Show
In order to silence the outsiders, Jesse decided to move up the wedding date. The Quixall family had sent out wedding invitations to various families within their circle and to some individuals who had maintained a good relationship with them over the years. Similarly, Caleb, a well-known figure, also received their wedding invitation.
Chelsea held the wedding invitation between her two fingers. “Shall I throw this away for you?”
Caleb shook his head. “No. Give it to me.”
Holding the wedding invitation, he gave it a cursory glance and couldn’t help but chuckle softly. Even the name written on the wedding invitation was “Caleb Jenkins.” It was clear that the Quixall family didn’t regard him as one of their own.
Seeing his peculiar laugh, Chelsea couldn’t help but ask, “Are you going?” She assumed that, given his strong dislike for the Quixall family, he probably wouldn’t go.
Surprisingly, he declared, “No. I’m going. Moreover, I have a grand gift for them.”
Chelsea gave a slight nod. “Then you should go. I’ll be there, too, representing the Yardley family. It will be a good chance for me to back you up.”
With a sigh, Caleb said, “Ms. Yardley, you really don’t have to be so kind to me.”
Chelsea averted her gaze. “Don’t flatter yourself. I was going to go anyway. Don’t overthink it.”
Suddenly, she added, “Did you know? The Xiques family will also send their representatives. If you’re interested in making connections with them, this wedding would be the perfect opportunity.”
Caleb was taken aback for a moment. “The Xiques family?” Is Jesse really that influential? He actually managed to lure people from the Xiques family to attend?
Chelsea confirmed, “Yes. That’s right. The Xiques family.” In truth, she also found it quite peculiar. Generally speaking, the Xiques family, being a prestigious family, wouldn’t bother to attend other families’ weddings. For them, time equated to money, and even a second’s delay could potentially cost them millions. For this reason, even if they didn’t bother themselves with other families, no one harbored any resentment.

In the end, they were all going to attend. Caleb chuckled. “Now, things are about to get interesting?”
Time swiftly passed, and the day of Jesse’s wedding arrived. Caleb donned the suit that Chelsea had meticulously prepared for him, neatly tied his tie, and calmly made his way to the wedding venue. Several guests had already taken their respective seats, waiting for the wedding ceremony to begin.
It should have been a blissful wedding ceremony under the watchful eyes of so many, coupled with the blessings from various business magnates. However, an unexpected turn of events occurred. Most of the Quixall and Levinson family members had arrived, but there was no sign of Raquel. No one knew what this woman was up to; everyone had been waiting for her for quite some time, yet she still hadn’t shown up.
As he saw the crowd below starting to buzz with discussions, a sense of urgency overcame George. He turned to Ivan. “When will Raquel be arriving, Mr. Levinson? If she doesn’t show up soon, we won’t be able to proceed with the wedding.”
Ivan also started to panic. “She should be here soon… My wife used to take quite a while to put on her makeup, too. Mr. Quixall, you should know this. Women love to look their best, especially at significant events like weddings. They would undoubtedly want to present themselves in the most elegant way to their husbands and future in-laws, creating the most beautiful memories of their lives. Don’t you agree?”
Even though he spoke otherwise, he was internally berating Raquel to no end. Couldn’t she have had her makeup done earlier? Why is she dragging things out? To the observant, it was clear that the Levinson family was intentionally snubbing the Quixall family, aiming to embarrass them.
Seeing that George remained silent, Shreya replied with an apologetic smile, “My husband is right. When we were getting married, I hesitated for half an hour before getting into the car, simply because I felt my makeup wasn’t done well. I was worried that it would embarrass our family if I went out like that…”
