Chapter 150: Thrown into the Deep Sea

After spending a few days recuperating in the hospital, Caleb felt his health had significantly improved, so he decided to take a stroll outside. Having spent fifteen minutes strolling, he felt a little weary and decided to return to his ward to rest.

At that moment, a terrifyingly familiar voice echoed from behind. “You audacious brat, how dare you show your ace in front of me?”

Suddenly, he turned around and was greeted by a plump figure. Caleb’s heart pounded wildly as he recalled the incidents that had occurred before. He forcefully suppressed the revulsion within him, breaking into a smile.

“Isn’t it Madam Yardley? It’s been a while. I hope all’s been well!”

Miriam chuckled. “You still have the nerve to say that? The scar you left on me hasn’t even faded yet. You…”

Caleb remained silent, realizing that Miriam was there to settle scores with him.

“You can now take a stroll, so I presume your injuries must be mostly healed,” Miriam said, her anger palpable. “Come back with me! I still have a score to settle with you.”

Seeing the hand reaching out toward him, Caleb instinctively dodged.

“Madam Yardley, it’s been quite a while since I escaped from the Yardley residence,” he said. “So much time has passed, and you never came after me. I thought, perhaps, you were the bigger person, having forgiven me long ago. Why did you suddenly get angry today and make a special trip to capture me?”

It seemed as if flames were about to burst forth from Miriam’s eyes.

“Had it not been for Chelsea constantly holding me back, do you really think you’d still be alive today?”

After Caleb fled, Chelsea would always step in to prevent Miriam from sending men to apprehend him.

“Mom, he’s made a big mistake by causing you so much pain. To simply let him off the hook like that is just too easy on him.”

Back then, Miriam had seen through her daughter, yet she chose not to expose her.

“Oh? So how would you like to punish him?”

Chelsea suggested, “Why don’t we let him enjoy his freedom for a while? Once he believes this matter is behind him and completely lets his guard down, we can bring him back and let him experience the feeling of despair.”

After giving it some thought, Miriam found the idea quite appealing. Regardless of her daughter’s motives for protecting Caleb, as long as it could plunge him into despair, she…

After all, Caleb was disliked everywhere he went, and he had nowhere to run. Therefore, it was a piece of cake for the Yardley family to seize the powerless Caleb. Confident in her own abilities, Miriam readily agreed, deciding to delay her hunt for Caleb.

Just when her patience was nearly exhausted, a shocking event occurred – Chelsea had been kidnapped. The person who kidnapped her had obviously been tracking her for quite some time. They seized the opportunity when she was getting off work and there was no one around to force her into the trunk of a car. Chelsea’s hands and feet were bound, her mouth sealed with tape, leaving her unable to call for help.

Following that, she was led all the way to the edge of a bridge. Below the bridge was the intimidating expanse of the sea. In the midst of her terrified gaze, the burly men who had kidnapped her hoisted her high into the air before tossing her into the sea.

Due to a similar experience in her childhood, Chelsea had developed a psychological fear of the ocean. Even though she had been striving to overcome her fears over the past few years, the physical and mental pressure caused her to lose all her strength and sink helplessly the moment she hit the water. The stone tied to her kept dragging her deeper, and the water pressure on all sides made it impossible for her to escape.
