Chapter 436 Forever Unattainable

“Oh?” Sebastian was somewhat perplexed.

Madelyn confessed honestly. “Actually, I had a bit of alcohol tonight. Without you by my side, I’m feeling really scared, so could you not hang up the phone and wait until I’ve fallen asleep before you do?”

Upon hearing this, Sebastian was taken aback for a moment, but then he laughed. Madelyn’s request was truly endearing. Sebastian agreed, listening to her sleep.

A few minutes later, Madelyn gradually drifted off into dreamland. On the other end of the phone, Sebastian listened to her light, shallow breathing and felt an inexplicable sense of tranquility wash over him. Following that, Sebastian lost all interest in work and simply decided to head to bed for some sleep as well.

The next day, in the morning, upon learning that Janessa had been arrested, Rachel was instantly livid, her fury threatening to burst from her chest. She mentally berated Janessa, giving her a thorough dressing-down. Regardless of everything, Janessa was still her cousin’s daughter. Therefore, Rachel had no choice but to send someone to bail Janessa out.

After Janessa was released, she realized everything had drastically changed. Instead of going anywhere else, the first thing she did was return to her company. As soon as she arrived at the office, she was met with cold stares from almost all the employees. Some employees even passed by, deliberately bumping into her.

“Hey, you bumped into me!” Janessa exclaimed in anger.

The employee turned around, casting a disdainful glance at her. With a dismissive snort, he walked away without a backward glance. Janessa was consumed by anger and wondered what on earth was going on. Without further ado, she strode back to her office.

Unexpectedly, upon entering, she saw Cheryl sitting in Rupert’s old seat, diligently working.

Clearly, Cheryl hadn’t expected Janessa’s quick release, let alone her immediate return to cause a fuss at the company. And so, she bellowed, “Wake up, Janessa! This seat is no longer yours!”

“What?”

Upon hearing this, Janessa was completely taken aback. Seeing her utterly bewildered, Cheryl burst into laughter. “Did you seriously think that after you were arrested by the police, the company shareholders would still consider you CEO? Hahaha! Should I call you naive, or foolish!”

After finishing her sentence, Cheryl shook her head. The smile on her face was radiant, brimming with unmistakable pride and boastfulness.

“You b*tch!” Janessa yelled.

This was the company she had fought so hard to reclaim, and this position was something she had obtained only after pouring her heart and soul into it. Now, she had barely warmed her seat when, to her surprise, she was promptly ousted by Cheryl! Cheryl, that b*tch!

Following this, a surge of resentment welled up in Janessa’s heart, leading her to uncontrollably lose her temper. She rushed forward, fiercely grabbing Cheryl’s hair. Then, with a strong pull, she yanked Cheryl up and slammed her head against the cold, hard wall.

After two harsh bashes, Cheryl felt as though she was on the brink of a concussion. She cried out urgently, “Someone, anyone, get this madwoman out of here!”

“Madwoman? How dare you insult me, you wretch! I swear, I won’t let you off easy today!” Janessa completely lost it and began to lash out irrationally. Remembering how hard she had worked for everything she had, only for it all to be ruined by Cheryl’s meddling, Janessa was filled with so much hatred she wanted to strangle Cheryl. And so, she really did just that.

After slamming Cheryl’s head into the wall repeatedly, Janessa pushed the dazed woman onto the table and fiercely squeezed her throat. “Cheryl, I wish you were dead! Just die!” As she continued to curse, Janessa unconsciously increased the pressure of her grip.

“I won’t let go! Today, you will meet your end right here!” Janessa was seething with rage and teetering on the brink of madness. She could hardly control the strength in her hands.

As Cheryl was on the verge of passing out, her eyes rolling back from the chokehold, the office door suddenly swung open. Cole rushed in, security guards in tow. “Ms. Cheryl!”

Seeing the situation, Cole urgently shouted and immediately rushed forward to stop Janessa. However, Janessa seemed to have completely lost her wits and refused to let go of Cheryl, gripping her tightly. Cole hastily shouted, “Come help, quick!”

Upon hearing this, the security guards immediately stepped forward to lend a hand. No matter how strong Janessa was, there was no way she could stand a chance against several men. In the end, she was forcibly pulled off Cheryl; she stumbled before falling to the ground.

Cheryl had nearly been strangled to death. Now that she was finally able to breathe, she quickly took deep breaths while coughing, her face flushed red. “Ms. Cheryl, are you all right?” Cole watched on, filled with concern.

After regaining her composure, Cheryl quickly waved her hand, saying, “I’m fine.” She hadn’t expected Janessa to go crazy and start strangling her. Recalling the sensation she had just experienced, Cheryl was nearly scared to death. She wondered just how twisted Janessa was to do this.

However, Cheryl was no pushover either, and she retorted furiously. “Janessa, let me tell you, you will never get Sherritt Group! Never!”

Upon hearing this, Janessa was once again consumed by rage. Suddenly, Janessa scrambled up from the ground and charged forward once again. However, this time, she was stopped by the security guards.

“What, are you thinking of attacking me again?” At this point, Cheryl was glaring at Janessa, her tone dripping with disdain. “The more I see you like this, the more I’m determined to take back the company. If I were to leave it to someone like you, Dad would never feel at ease even if he were to die!”

Upon hearing these words, Janessa was driven to a rage that bordered on madness. “B*tch, I’ll tear your mouth apart! I’ll rip you to shreds!”

Realizing that Janessa had clearly lost her sanity, a wave of disgust instantly washed over Cheryl’s gaze. She hastily instructed the security guards, “What are you waiting for? Hurry up and escort this troublesome woman out of the company! Also, inform all security personnel that from now on, if they see Janessa at the company entrance, they must absolutely prevent her from setting foot inside!”

“Understood,” The security guards and Cole nodded in unison, then proceeded to escort Janessa out.
