Chapter 386: Wishful Thinking
โYou two are nothing but lowlifes, absolute scoundrels!โ she shouted, incredulous. โKieran, what in the world are you doing? Get down here this instant! Weren't you the one who vowed to marry me, to cherish and look after me for the rest of our days? What exactly is going on here?โ
Eunice wept, hitting them repeatedly with her slippers as they yelped and hastily covered themselves with the quilt.
โKieran, who is this woman?โ the other woman inquired sweetly from the bed, pulling the quilt tighter.
โSheโs just a madwoman!โ Kieran replied, annoyed.
Euniceโs rage ignited. โWhat did you just call me? Kieran, how dare you!โ she exclaimed.
Kieran glared and retorted sharply, โIsnโt that the truth? Youโre not just mad, youโre unbelievably foolish! I tasked you with sabotaging the pharmaceutical factory, and you failed! What use are you to me now?โ
โButโฆ you never said those things before,โ Eunice whispered, devastated. Tears streamed down her cheeks, her heart breaking. She looked at Kieran and saw a stranger, not the man she knew. The man who once called her โHoney,โ โBaby,โ and โDearโ was now having sex with another woman, brazenly insulting her. It was cruel and absurd.
โWhatโs in the past remains there. Things have changed,โ he stated coldly.
Kieran smirked, kissed the other woman, then turned to Eunice with a taunting expression. โEunice,โ he declared, โyou didnโt actually think I was serious about marrying you?โ
Stunned, Eunice managed, โWerenโt you going toโฆ?โ
โOh, how truly naive you are,โ Kieran laughed boisterously. โIt was all a ruse to swindle you out of half your familyโs shares. Now that youโre useless to me, why should I keep you around?โ
He continued, โEvery moment with you was excruciating. Look at yourself. A woman of both looks and wealth, being with you is a waste of life! Iโve always craved a vibrant partner. But you? Youโre like a lifeless fish. Not like my darling here, right?โ
Kieran provocatively licked the womanโs lips.
Beneath the covers, they moved suggestively. The woman shrieked, then laughed, playfully raising her fist. โOh, Kieran, youโre such a tease.โ
Suddenly, with fierce determination, Eunice charged forward like a wild beast, unleashing punches on the woman in the bed. She pulled off the blanket, then gripped the womanโs hair, twisting and pinching. Her eyes blazed with a wild frenzy.
โYou b*tch, itโs all your fault for stealing my man! Iโll kill you! Youโve all let me down, treated me terribly! Why are you doing this to me?โ
Eunice unleashed her full wrath. The woman, defenseless, screamed, pressing against Kieran for protection.
โAh, Kieran, save me! This madwoman will kill me!โ
Kieran, initially indifferent, finally stood up, wrapped in a blanket, and slapped Eunice. โEnough nonsense, b*tch!โ he barked.
Eunice was stunned. โKieran, didโฆ did you just hit me?โ She looked at him, struggling to comprehend that the man she loved had struck her.
He slapped her again. โYes, I did! Get out of here and donโt meddle!โ He lifted the blanket and resumed his activities.
Eunice watched, pain twisting her expression. Unable to bear it, she stormed out, tears streaming down her face.
Why? Why did it turn out like this? Why did they deceive and torment her? As she ran, she wiped her tears, but they fell ceaselessly, like pearls from a broken string.
Kieran, youโre a fraud! Your promises, your declarations of loveโall lies! And I trusted you so deeply. I loved you sincerely. Why?
As she wept, the skies thundered, lightning splitting the air. A torrential downpour began, mocking her pain.
Feeling utterly deflated, Eunice wandered aimlessly, ending up back at the bar where she first met Kieran. Those around her eyed her with disdain, keeping their distance.
Without care, she took a seat and ordered ten whiskeys.
โMiss, are you sure you can handle ten drinks?โ the bartender asked skeptically.
Eunice lost her composure. โDo you think I canโt afford it? Stop looking down on people! Just bring me the drinks!โ
โRight away,โ the bartender hurried to serve them.
