Chapter 89
Finding himself with some free time, James decided to take Natalie out for a little fun. Valerie also happened to have some free time, and during breakfast, the three of them decided to go to the beach. Natalie loved the ocean, and Valerie did too, so James took them to enjoy a good time. Natalie loved climbing on Jamesโ back to play games with the waves since she was a child. Even now, her playful spirit remained, and she was having a great time.
The reason that Wesley bumped into Natalie was that he was also on vacation, came to the beach to have some fun, and was amazed by the sweet smile on her face. He couldnโt resist recording a video to show Easton. Though Wesley wasnโt exactly a good person, he wouldnโt be like Easton, who married Natalie yet still couldnโt forget Jennifer and perfectly showcased the essence of a jerk.
Jennifer might be a bit dramatic, but love was blind. Easton was willing to let her humiliate Natalie. That was the difference between love and indifference. Wesley wasnโt interested in women and didnโt understand love, but even he thought Eastonโs actions were too much. Natalie liked Easton and often tried to track him down. Honestly, Natalie was truly devoted to Easton. The year he had his car accident, Natalie was his support and his guide, taking care of him thoroughly so he could recover quickly. With Jennifer coming back, everything changed. Each time she got hurt, the evidence pointed to Natalie. Jennifer always gave off the impression of someone who could enjoy the good times, but not endure the difficulties.
Wesley watched them from a distance, noticing Valerie laughing heartily with Natalie. His gaze flickered, feeling slightly annoyed. He drew his attention back as his phone vibrated to check it.
Easton: [Where are you?]
Wesley knew immediately what he wanted to do.
Wesley: [Easton, why are you coming over? You and the Simpson family just keep humiliating her, putting her down, and looking down on her. Everybody has their dignity, youโd better not come over. Natalie has finally had a day to relax. Do you really want to ruin her good mood?]
Wesley: [Iโve been back the past few days and checked up on Natalie. I was surprised by how impressive she is, and now sheโs with another guy. Easton, youโre just used to her treating you well; itโs not love.]
Wesley really couldnโt stand the arrogant attitude of the Simpson family. They took pleasure in putting Natalie down. Especially Jennifer, who always found ways to criticize Natalie on purpose. She acted like she was concerned for Natalie, but it was all about making everyone angry at her if you listened carefully. Natalie tried to explain, but no one believed her.
When Easton saw the message from Wesley, the expression on his good-looking face shattered bit by bit. Earlier, when he was harshly reprimanding Natalie, he felt nothing but satisfaction. Easton thought, โWhy did she have to pick on Jennifer? The role of Charlotte should be hers.โ But later, it seemed like everything Jennifer did was to drive him away from Natalie. Eastonโs eyes became colder and darker.
Easton thought, โEven Wesley noticed that I was really unfeeling.โ He grew up in an unhappy family and was raised by his grandparents. He rarely had mood swings and didnโt know much about love. He sneered and thought, โHow could Wesley know what I am really thinking?โ He threw the car keys back on the table and continued working.
At the beach, Natalie, James, and Valerie were tired from playing. They sat under an umbrella, having a barbecue and beer. Natalie hadnโt felt this carefree in a long time. After the divorce, she could enjoy herself without worrying about whether Easton had eaten. There was no need to stress over choosing a gift for him when Easton had a banquet to attend. As she munched on a lamb skewer, she looked at Valerie and asked, โValerie, are you having fun?โ
Valerie hadnโt relaxed in a long time, and now she was playing so much that she was sweating. She nodded with a big smile. โItโs so fun and enjoyable!โ Natalie was about to say something when she noticed her phone ringing. She picked it up and saw it was Jennifer. Natalie frowned, realizing she forgot to block her. Natalie thought, โToday is supposed to be a happy day. Why do these annoying people always come to disturb me?โ Natalie thought Jennifer was like a clingy band-aid, sticking to her every day and never letting go. She pressed the answer button with frustration and snapped. โHello!โ
Jenniferโs voice was upbeat. โNatalie, Iโm going to talk with Easton about marriage tonight. Are you jealous?โ
Honestly, she wasnโt envious at all. Her heart died when Easton gave her the divorce papers to sign. No, it should have been earlierโฆ she had already given up when Easton pushed her down the stairs in her past life. Natalie laughed and asked, โJennifer, are you okay?โ
Jennifer was surprised. โNatalie, what do you mean by โam I alright?โโ
โYou sound lively, but why does it seem like youโre not thinking clearly? Wake yourself up. Iโve already divorced Easton. You keep coming around acting like you matter. Are you nuts?โ said Natalie.
โYou two should hurry up and get married. You are a perfect match. Iโm living my life big and happy. Stop pretending to be friendly to me. I live my life, you live yours. What difference does it make to me if youโre talking about marriage with Easton?โ added Natalie.
Jennifer was surprised, looking at the number. She thought, โI hadnโt dialed it wrong; it was hers. But why is Natalie behaving like this?โ If Jennifer said something like this, Natalie wouldโve called her shameless previously. As long as Natalie got angry, Jennifer would feel like she had won.
Jennifer stomped her foot in anger and smugly said, โNatalie, you probably didnโt understand what I said. Tonight, Iโm planning to talk about marriage with Easton. Iโm not taking him from you. My mom is the one arranging this. She said tonight she would propose to Easton that he marry me.โ
โSo, do you want me to say congratulations? Well, congratulations, may you both have a happy life together,โ said Natalie.
Natalie wasnโt sad at all anymore; she had reached the breaking point of disappointment and didnโt even have tears left to shed.
โNatalie, you should come back tonight and get that divorce. Easton says he wants to finalize it tonight. Iโm afraid youโll say I bully you again if youโre not present,โ added Jennifer.
Natalie sneered. โWho do you think you are, trying to bully me? I put up with you because I thought we were family, but now you mean nothing to me. Why should I let you push me around? If you have the guts, go ahead and try. You crazy woman!โ
โAhhhโฆ Natalie, you insult me!โ Jennifer stomped her foot angrily.
Natalie sneered. โSo what if I did? Iโm definitely talking about you. Do I need to choose a special day to insult you?โ
Natalie hung up. She thought for a moment and decided to let Easton out of the penalty box. Then she gave Easton a call.
Easton saw Natalieโs name appear on his phone and answered immediately. โNatalieโฆโ
โI just got a call from Jennifer. She said youโre divorcing me to marry her. Thatโs great news! Iโll be waiting for you at the courthouse at 9 am tomorrow.โ Natalie abruptly hung up and blocked him again after she finished speaking.
Easton was speechless. He tried calling Natalie again only to find out she had blocked him once more.
