Chapter 305

Maxwellโ€™s assistant wiped the sweat off his forehead and spoke anxiously. โ€œMr. Spencer, the original report targeted Murray, but the last batch of raw materials ended up being stacked on our construction site.โ€

Maxwell immediately grasped the implication.

That kid had set him up again!

โ€œDamn it! He actually dared to trick me!โ€

Natalie let out a cold laugh. โ€œMr. Spencer, werenโ€™t you the one who tried to frame Murray first?โ€

Maxwell snapped his head toward Natalie, narrowing his eyes as suspicion crept in. This woman wasnโ€™t as simple as she seemed. โ€œMs. Shawn, what exactly do you mean by that?โ€ he demanded.

A thin layer of frost seemed to coat Natalieโ€™s gaze. โ€œMr. Spencer, if you donโ€™t want others to know, donโ€™t do it in the first place.โ€

She offered him a chilling, cryptic smile.

โ€œMr. Spencer, Iโ€™ll be waiting for your next attempt to kill me. But next time, getting out wonโ€™t be so easy. Youโ€™re welcome to try anytime.โ€

With that, Natalie turned and walked away.

โ€œNatalie, you wretched womanโ€ฆโ€

Smack! Maxwellโ€™s hand landed hard on his sonโ€™s face.

Davian, who had never been struck by his father before, stood stunned, staring at him in shock. โ€œDadโ€ฆ youโ€ฆ you hit me?โ€

โ€œI hit you because youโ€™re a fool!โ€ Maxwell roared. โ€œDonโ€™t you get what Natalie just meant? Sheโ€™s letting you go this time, but sheโ€™s waiting for you to make an even bigger mistake, one that will ruin you for good!โ€

Davian froze, his mind reeling.

What a venomous woman.

โ€œDad, sheโ€™s so ruthless. Iโ€™ll find a way to kill her,โ€ Davian snarled, the murderous intent in his eyes flaring briefly before vanishing.

Maxwell, however, couldnโ€™t shake the feeling that something was off. How did Murray know about Everlast Constructionโ€™s shady dealings? And worse, how had he managed to turn the situation against them so effectively?

He never set foot on construction sites. Yet secretly, he had been collaborating with Mr. Garciaโ€™s sister-in-law from Everlast Construction. Their materials were substandard, completely failing to meet national standards.

Murray had bought them at rock-bottom prices, pocketed a tidy sum, and even intended to bring his older brother downโ€”a win-win situation for him.

But in the endโ€ฆ

โ€œDamn it, where did it all go wrong?โ€ Maxwell muttered, his expression cold and menacing.

Davian, noticing his fatherโ€™s worried look, asked hesitantly, โ€œDad, what do we do now?โ€

Killing Natalie wasnโ€™t an option, not yet. They would have to wait for another opportunity. Maxwell wouldnโ€™t make the mistake of getting his own hands dirty again.

Frowning deeply, Maxwellโ€™s eyes gleamed. "The construction project is in trouble, and I need to deal with it with sharp determination. Stay out of trouble for now. If we canโ€™t deliver the apartments, every cent we have will have to be thrown into this mess.โ€

With that, Maxwell left quickly with his assistant, leaving Davian standing alone.

Davian was soon dropped off at the entrance of the police station.

โ€œHey! Dad, I didnโ€™t even get in the car!โ€ Davian shouted angrily, feeling abandoned.

Spencer was furious. Was his dad abandoning him?

Natalieโ€™s car pulled up in front of him. She rolled down the window, her smile calm yet mocking. โ€œMr. Spencer, donโ€™t forget to tell the person behind you to come up with a better plan next time, okay?โ€

Davian froze, his bloodshot eyes wide in disbelief as he stared at Natalie.

But before he could say anything, Natalie had already driven off.

From her rearview mirror, Natalie caught sight of the reporters waiting not far away and smiled faintly.

Davian, this is just the beginning. Welcome to hell.

Furious, Davian kicked a nearby tree, his anger boiling over.

โ€œDamn it, Natalie! Iโ€™ll make sure you die! If I canโ€™t take you down, Iโ€™m not Davian!โ€ he roared at the top of his lungs.

Unbeknownst to him, a journalist nearby had caught his outburst on a livestream.

The reporter, startled by Davianโ€™s words, mustered the courage to ask, โ€œMr. Spencer, how did you manage to get out? Did your father use his power to force Ms. Shawn into a settlement?โ€

The question hit a nerve. Davianโ€™s bloodshot eyes flared with anger. โ€œGet lost! Mind your own business, and stay the hell away from me!โ€

The scene drew the attention of other reporters, who rushed over to broadcast the drama live.

Davianโ€™s arrogant attitude was certainly a big news story.

โ€œMr. Spencer,โ€ one reporter pressed, โ€œwhy are you so determined to kill Natalie? What did she ever do to you to deserve such hostility?โ€

Davian glared at the growing crowd of reporters, his expression dark and menacing. โ€œStay out of this! Itโ€™s none of your business. The grudge between that woman and me is something you wouldnโ€™t understand. Get lost, or I'll beat you all to a pulp!โ€

A female journalist raised her voice. โ€œMr. Spencer, for someone as rich as you, is it that easy to snuff out an ordinary personโ€™s life? Is that why you dare to act so arrogantly?โ€

Davianโ€™s face turned crimson with rage. His bloodshot eyes locked onto the female reporter, his voice dripping with disdain. โ€œThatโ€™s right. Rich people can easily take someone out. And if you keep talking, you might be next.โ€

The moment the words left his mouth, his statement โ€œThatโ€™s right. Rich people can easily take someone out,โ€ exploded across the internet.

Social media erupted with fury, denouncing Davianโ€™s arrogance.

This Davian guy is beyond insufferable. Someone needs to investigate if heโ€™s got any murder cases under his belt.

If heโ€™s this brazen in front of a police station, imagine how many people heโ€™s bullied in private.

Like father, like son. His dadโ€™s using substandard materials in their construction projects, endangering lives, while this entitled brat flaunts his power. Absolutely despicable.

As soon as Davian stepped out of the police station, his outburst had already landed him at the top of trending topics.

Maxwell, who was still scrambling to address the fallout from his failed construction project, ended up hospitalized from sheer rage when he saw the news about his son.

The fallout was swift. Maxwellโ€™s company stock plummeted, and a nationwide boycott ensued. Furious homebuyers began demanding refunds en masse.

โ€œArgh!โ€ Jennifer screamed, slamming her computer onto her office desk.

โ€œThat idiot! That absolute moron! How can someone be this stupid? Itโ€™s like his brain stopped developing entirely!โ€

She paced her office furiously, her hands trembling with anger. "Artificial intelligence would be a genius compared to this naturally-born fool! Heโ€™s driving me insane!โ€

โ€œHmm.โ€ A cold, biting voice cut through Jenniferโ€™s tirade. โ€œJennifer, if the media caught you in this hysterical state, youโ€™d be on the front page too.โ€

Startled, Jennifer whipped her head toward the door, her rage replaced by shock.

Natalie stood there, framed by the snowfall outside. She wore a pink coat, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, giving her an air of pure elegance.

Jennifer blinked, taken aback that Natalie had shown up unannounced. โ€œNatalie, what are you doing here?โ€

Leaning casually against the doorframe, Natalie regarded Jenniferโ€™s disheveled, furious expression with a faint, amused smile. โ€œI heard that Mrs. Songโ€™s company went bankrupt, and youโ€™ve opened your own little studio to get by.โ€

โ€œYou stole my life for over twenty years, Jennifer. Looks like youโ€™ll soon know what itโ€™s like to live without money.โ€

Her words were calm, but her intention to provoke was unmistakable.

โ€œShut up, Natalie, you idiot! What do you even know?โ€ Jennifer snapped, glaring at her. Was Natalie here just to mock her?

Jennifer sneered, her tone dripping with venom. โ€œNatalie, I know youโ€™re desperate for your parentsโ€™ love. But face it. None of your brothers, nor your parents, want anything to do with you. Even though youโ€™re their biological daughter, they refuse to acknowledge you.โ€

โ€œThat must hurt, doesnโ€™t it, Natalie? Just wait. The worst is yet to come.โ€

Her face twisted into a grotesque expression of malice, silently willing Natalie to disappear forever.

Natalie chuckled lightly and shook her head. โ€œMy, my. Iโ€™ve never met anyone so shameless. Youโ€™ve got such a pretty neckโ€ฆ pity itโ€™s holding up a pigโ€™s head.โ€

With that, she turned on her heel and strolled away with effortless grace.

โ€œArgh!โ€ Jennifer, already livid, completely lost it. She screamed at the top of her lungs, throwing a nearby lamp against the wall.

โ€œDamn you, Natalie! Did she seriously just say my neck is holding up a pigโ€™s head?โ€
