Nick smiled as he looked at Wendy’s upset expression, but inside he felt furious. He thought, ‘Damn Wendy, is she going to leave me with nothing in the end? Nick asked, “Wendy, you… Won’t you be home tonight either?” He suddenly realized Wendy hadn’t slept at home for a long time.

Declan was puzzled about why Nick would call him names like that. He was furious about Natalie calling him a loser earlier. Yet after coming home, he had to face the same scolding from Nick.

Suddenly, Nick saw an old man in a black mourning robe floating near the stairs, staring right at him. He blinked and realized it was his grandpa. He was completely stunned.

He thought, ‘Grandpa has died ages ago, why is he standing at the stairway, staring at me?’

Then, Nick shouted out of fright.

Brenda and Declan were startled by Nick’s scream. They both looked up at the same time.

Declan asked, “Dad, what’s up with you?”

Brenda asked, “Nick, what’s wrong?”

Nick pointed at the image standing at the stairs and fearfully said, “Mom, is Grandpa out of money down there and asking for some? Send him some money so he won’t come looking for me. He scared me just standing there. When he was alive, he was terrified of you. Get him to leave.”

Brenda was startled by Nick’s terrified expression. She thought, ‘Nick has been acting weird. Could he really have Alzheimer’s?’

Brenda said, “You little brat, how did you get dementia before me? There’s nothing there, how could you see your grandpa?”

Brenda gave Nick a slap on the head, hoping to bring him back to his senses.

But Nick kept backing away in terror, his eyes wide with fear. He murmured, “Grandpa, don’t come closer. Don’t wear those creepy long clothes. If you want to visit me, change into something more normal. You’re scaring me.”

Brenda was astonished.

Declan looked at Nick in horror. He was taken aback by Nick’s action. He asked, “Grandma, what’s wrong with Dad? Why does he seem like he’s losing it?”

Brenda said sadly, “Declan, the doctor said your dad has Alzheimer’s. He’s also battling high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and high blood sugar. He’s been fainting lately and forgetting what he’s doing. He’s even been losing control of his bowels for the past couple of days. He’s just turned 50; how could he have Alzheimer’s already? Oh, my poor child, what are you going to do?” Brenda cried, clutching her chest.

Declan was stunned. He told Nick, “Dad, there’s nothing there, let alone your Grandpa.”

Nick was both terrified and furious. He slapped Declan hard and said, “Shut up! You useless thing, why didn’t you die out there? You’re in my way; all four of you brothers must die.”

Declan was shocked.

Brenda was dumbfounded, thinking, ‘How could he say such a thing? After all, Declan is my grandson! In her opinion, both Wendy and Natalie could die, but she couldn’t bear losing her four grandsons.’

Declan asked, “Dad, what did you… what did you say?” He covered his face where he had been slapped and looked at Nick in disbelief. He couldn’t believe what he had heard.

Nick suddenly realized what he had just said. He quickly added, “Did I say something? Did I speak? I don’t even remember talking a moment ago. Mom, hurry and make Grandpa go away! He’s standing right in front of me. I’m scared. He says he wants to take me to accompany him because he is lonely.”

Nick kept backing away, frantically waving his hands in front of him.

Brenda went to the kitchen, grabbed a handful of rice, and threw it at Nick. She shouted as she scattered the rice, “Apologies to the spirits, please don’t cause trouble, go back where you came from.”

At the door, seeing Nick losing his mind, a faint smirk of ridicule appeared in Wendy’s eyes. She murmured, “First Nick, next Camellia. You two tragic lovebirds won’t have to sneak around anymore. I’m going to lock you two together for good.”

Wendy’s eyes grew dark and she turned and walked away.

Natalie got home and received a video from a servant in the Simpson residence. A murderous intent flashed in her eyes after watching the video and hearing what Declan said.

Wendy had poisoned Nick. The poison was hallucinogenic, colorless, odorless, and couldn’t be detected by the hospital. It was Wendy’s way of giving Nick a taste of his medicine.

But Declan was rotten to the core, Natalie was determined to strike back at Declan without holding back.

Natalie transferred some money to the servant, then, she went to take a shower and sleep.

Early the following morning. George called Natalie to go to the Resources Bureau to handle some paperwork.
