Chapter 259
The man who had whistled earlier laughed when he heard this. He said, โDeclan, even though we race and it seems like weโre the bad guys, weโd never actually insult or trample a pretty girl like her. Youโre her brother, and to save your skin, youโre willing to let her be taken advantage of. Thatโs just evil, way worse than anything weโve ever done. After tonight, thereโs no place for someone like you in our group.โ
Hearing this, Declan became grim. He said, โIf it werenโt for you guys jumping me and demanding 300 thousand dollars, none of this would have happened.โ
He thought, โIf things got too tough, I would have to call Jennifer. Jennifer said that because of Natalie, Jason is crippled, and Vance is missing. It is all Natalieโs fault. She better not survive the night.โ
The night was deep, and the wind was biting cold. An exciting car race was kicking off on the track. Not far away, a large screen was showing the race.
As the race started, the roar of the engines was deafening. Two cars shot out like arrows released from a bow. In an instant, the tires screeched against the ground, creating wisps of smoke.
Natalieโs red car was zigzagging.
Seeing this, a boy couldnโt help but laugh. He said, โYeah, she can drive, but slower than a turtle. Mr. Wright is almost at the finish line already.โ
Declan sneered, โWhat a clown, a disgrace to the Simpsons.โ
A man said, โWhat do you know? The bet says that if she loses the race, she needs to be Mr. Wrightโs secret lover for a year. Maybe Natalie wants to be Mr. Wrightโs girl.โ
Another guy crossed his arms and said, โWith looks like that, Mr. Wright wouldnโt be actually losing anything. If it were me, I wouldnโt mind either. Sheโs pretty, has a great figure, and is gutsy. Sheโd make a great wife.โ
The guy speaking was quite handsome, wearing a white casual shirt and black pants, exuding youthful charm.
Not far away, Easton watched the whole scene, his gaze intense. He glanced at the big screen and realized that Natalieโs car was far behind.
He thought, โCould it be that she really wants to be Georgeโs woman, and thatโs why she agreed so quickly?โ
โNatalie, your ambitions are quite big,โ Easton murmured as he glared at Natalie, his eyes full of anger.
Through the screen, Natalieโs actions in the driverโs seat were clearly visible. Her movements seemed awkward, like she didnโt really know how to drive a race car.
One person said, โMr. Wright is definitely going to win.โ
Another man said, โDeclan, tonight your family is going to be a joke. Racing when she canโt even drive? Youโll be the laughingstock in this circle forever.โ
Declan watched Natalieโs embarrassing moves and wished he could just run over and strangle her.
A man shouted, โMr. Wright is about to win!โ He turned to a nearby bodyguard and said, โGo grab a case of beer, then get some barbecue ready. Weโre celebrating Mr. Wrightโs big night.โ
The bodyguard nodded and turned around to get ready.
However, something completely unexpected happened. Out of nowhere, the snake-like red sports car suddenly seemed to take flight, skillfully dancing around the curve. The carโs body nearly skinned along the trackโs edge.
From the big screen, it was obvious that Natalieโs car was at full speed, the engineโs roar echoing through the skies. Every gear shift, every turn showcased her amazing driving skills.
At the most challenging sequence of bends, Natalie raced through tricky spots with excellent control.
Everyone watched in amazement.
The blue race car that had vanished from view appeared once again.
Seeing Georgeโs car appear, everyone held their breath in anticipation.
Natalieโs car was tremendously fast, and her quick gear shift was dizzying. She was attempting a last-minute overtake.
A man shouted with excitement, โOh my gosh, she was pretending not to know how to drive because she wasnโt familiar with the car, but now itโs like her car is flying.โ
Seeing the flashy red sports car overtake the blue one on the tenth curve, the crowd was so shocked that their eyes almost popped out.
Easton was astonished to realize that Natalie really knew how to race. He felt ashamed of his earlier thoughts and was angry at himself for still not fully trusting Natalie.
The most surprised was Declan. He had always thought Natalie was useless. Skills like that werenโt developed overnight. Heโd been training since he was twelve but hadnโt achieved such impressive skills.
The man standing beside Declan asked in astonishment, โDeclan, are you kidding us? You said your sister was a nobody, but whatโs going on now? Her driving skills surpass those of a championship racer.โ
Declan was equally shocked. His voice was shaky with disbelief as he said, โIโฆ I donโt know. Iโve never seen her drive before. Honestly, Iโve never seen her in a race car.โ He doubted if the woman in the car was actually Natalie.
Natalieโs level of skill and endurance was enough to compete in the worldโs top endurance championships. In the championship, each race lasted from six to twenty-four hours, testing technical skills, endurance, and balance at the highest level.
Declan couldnโt believe that Natalieโs familiarity with racing cars was beyond his. He was even more reluctant to admit that Natalie was better than him.
George was also shocked. The red sports car he had left behind suddenly overtook him. And now Natalieโs red sports car was nowhere to be seen.
The car he was driving had the best performance, while the red car Natalie was driving had the lowest performance. Natalieโs car had already reached the finish line, and George was a full minute and thirty seconds behind her. Everyone was stunned by the result. Their faces were burning with embarrassment from their previous words. Seeing that George had lost, Natalie got in the car and drove it back to its original spot, parked it, and got out. George stepped out of the cockpit with a gloomy face. Up until this moment, it had felt like a dreamโhe had lost. Yet, he was completely convinced.
He looked at Natalie and said with admiration, โNatalie, you drive well.โ
Natalie replied, โItโs just okay. Is it because my brother is the champion of the World Racing Championship that Iโm this good?โ
Declan frowned, wondering. When did I become the champion of the World Racing Championship?
George glanced at Declan with doubt. He asked, "Him? A loser. How could he become the champion of the World Racing Championship?"
Natalie sneered, too lazy to even look at Declan. She said, โDoes he even deserve that? Iโm talking about someone else.โ
Declan was at a loss for words, his face turning red with embarrassment.
Natalie smiled and said, โMr. Wright, I won. Itโs time to fulfill your promise.โ
George chuckled as he assessed Natalie. He thought, โWith her skills, if we bring her into the team, our chances of winning future races would be much higher.โ
He sincerely offered, โMs. Shawn, thereโs no issue with the land. Are you interested in joining our team?โ
