Chapter 244
Jennifer was slightly taken aback. Easton had never asked her this question before.
No matter when she appeared, Easton never thought her timing was off.
Jennifer wondered why Easton suddenly asked this question.
Jennifer felt a sense of unease rising within her, and Eastonโs gaze was cold.
She explained with a smile, โEaston, there arenโt many islands around, so I guessed youโd be here. You mentioned taking me on a vacation to an island. I remember last year when I came back, you even bought an island just to take a holiday with me. Honestly, the scenery here is truly stunning. The sunset reflecting on the water is dazzling, and we have a sunset viewing spot the day after tomorrow. I think this place is quite nice.โ
Easton frowned. Back then, he was deceived.
He said calmly, โIโll take you next time. I have to go back now. If you enjoy the scenery here, why not stay a few more days?โ Jennifer looked around and found there wasnโt even a place to stay on this deserted island. However, Easton asked her to stay longer. Her face turned pale instantly, and she felt like Easton didnโt care for her at all.
He had really changed, completely different now.
Jennifer let out a strained laugh, nearly shedding her composed exterior. She remarked, โEaston, are you serious? I came here to find you because I feel lost without you by my side. Your presence is the only thing that brings me comfort.โ
Jenniferโs tone was gentle, her white dress fluttering in the breeze, and she looked stunning. Her pitiful expression made her truly delicate and charming.
This trick always worked on Easton.
Murray and Tiana looked at Jenniferโs intentionally feigned gentleness, feeling so embarrassed that even their toes curled.
They wondered, โCanโt Easton really see through such an obvious act?โ
Tiana said, โI guess true love really is blind.โ
Honestly, Tiana used to think Vance was the most handsome man in the world. But after getting over him, she found Vance really disgusting.
Tiana turned her head and looked at Natalie with sympathy, saying, โNatalie, I finally understand why you lost to Jennifer.โ Murray stated blankly, โNatalie doesnโt know how to feign helplessness and evoke a manโs sympathy like Jennifer does.โ
Natalie was surprised.
Hearing Murrayโs words, Jennifer looked up with tears in her eyes.
Jennifer said sadly, โMr. Spencerโฆโ
Murray pretended to vomit.
Murrayโs gesture was insulting, making Jennifer tremble with anger. Her expression was shocked. Clearly, she didnโt expect Murray to be there too.
Jennifer wanted to say something more.
Having been trapped by Jennifer on several occasions, Murray grew cautious. He looked at the captain and remarked, โThe witch has arrived, captain. Shouldnโt we be setting sail now?โ
Jenniferโs eyes widened as she realized she had just been called a witch.
Natalie couldnโt help but laugh at Murrayโs antics.
It seemed that Jenniferโs previous schemes had left quite a mark on him.
As the captain set sail towards the sunset, Natalie gazed at the breathtaking scenery ahead, her smile radiant enough to illuminate the entire world.
Easton glanced up and was completely captivated by that dazzling smile, losing himself in its brightness.
Following his gaze, Jennifer saw Natalie. In that sunset, even the magnificent scenery couldnโt match Natalieโs radiant smile. Jennifer watched Eastonโs serious yet gentle eyes, feeling a mix of anger and jealousy.
She gazed at Easton, incredulous. Despite his imposing stature, he was regarding Natalie with remarkable gentleness.
Natalieโs departure had indeed changed him a lot.
What one couldnโt have was always the most desirable.
Easton only realized what he valued most once Natalie was gone.
Jennifer was also aware of this. In the past, she had kept Easton at armโs length, convinced that what he couldnโt have would always seem the most appealing.
Eastonโs change really frightened Jennifer.
โEaston, I havenโt had dinner yet,โ Jennifer said, rubbing her stomach. She looked pale because her stomach was upset.
She deliberately skipped meals to make Easton feel sorry for her.
Easton looked down at Jennifer and said indifferently, โThereโs no restaurant. You can only have dinner when you get back.โ
After saying that, Easton boarded the ship gracefully, with Xavier quickly following him.
Jennifer was so angry that tears welled up, but all she could do was follow him onto the ship.
Upon witnessing Natalieโs ship depart, Jennifer was seething with anger. She had anticipated they would spend the night, and had schemed for Natalie to accidentally fall into the sea at midnight, believing such a demise would inflict greater suffering on her.
However, just as Jennifer arrived, Natalieโs ship was already leaving.
โEaston, when we head back tonight, could you keep me company?โ Jennifer asked, standing next to Easton.
She explained, โActing is exhausting, but luckily with your investment, the crew and director wonโt give me too much hassle.โ
On the island, Jennifer sought an opportunity to board Eastonโs ship, but she was determined not to allow Easton to become intimate with her.
The illusion powder could make Easton feel his interaction with Jennifer was all real; it was the same trick sheโd used on Colin.
Colin was obsessed with Jennifer these days.
He would definitely wear himself out to death.
Easton didnโt say anything. He just went into the cabin and told the captain to set sail.
Not far away, Natalieโs ship had become just a tiny dot on the vast sea.
However, Natalie didnโt plan to go back.
Following the elimination of Eastonโs crew, Natalieโs ship continued to sail for an additional three hours.
Natalie was enticed by the captainโs words โ the tide was going out on another island.
The island was full of crabs and lobsters, far from the city, without any pollution.
The water was crystal clear, and at night, lobsters would gather in large numbers.
Natalie decided to go over to take a look.
If Jennifer and Easton wanted to catch up, it was impossible.
When Easton returned to the hotel, he found out that Natalie, Murray, and Tiana hadnโt returned.
Eastonโs expression turned dark, and he realized he had been tricked by Natalie.
She must have gone night diving. Easton, with a faint ache in his arm wound, asked Xavier to fetch the first aid kit to treat him.
Jennifer didnโt know that Easton was hurt and followed him into the room.
Seeing Easton undressing, she walked over, intending to hug him from behind.
However, Easton skillfully dodged Jennifer, looking at her with a knowing smile, and asking, โReally want to be my mistress?โ
Jenniferโs face turned pale, her eyes tearful with anger. She said, โEaston, how could you say that to me? Back then, I did everything I could to save you from the fire. How can you expect me to be a mistress? I want to be your wife. You promised to marry me.โ
Easton sneered, โIf I marry you, Iโll end up with nothing. Are you really willing to suffer with me?โ
Jennifer was puzzled, looking at Easton with a confused expression, and asked, โEaston, what do you mean by that? Why would you end up with nothing?โ
Easton stated, โMy grandpa has another will, but I donโt know where it is. However, itโs clearly stated that if I divorce Natalie, everything I own now will be donated to society and charity. Once I divorce, the agreement goes into effect, and Iโll be left with nothing. Are you willing to live with me like that?โ
Jenniferโs eyes widened in disbelief. She exclaimed, โEaston, who exactly is Natalie? Why would Mr. Vernon Garcia make such a will?โ
