Chapter 240

Easton glanced down at the tablet Xavier was holding. Xavier explained, “Mr. Garcia, the troublemakers who attempted to harm Ms. Shawn last night have been apprehended. They were paid to do so, but they’re refusing to disclose who hired them. All four are currently in custody, and both Ms. Shawn and Ms. Gillett are against forgiving them. Since there wasn’t any real harm done, they’ll be out after a short time in detention.”

Easton squinted slightly and remarked, “Investigate their identities and their bank transactions.”

Xavier nodded and said, “Got it!”

Then Xavier told Easton what had happened at the restaurant last night.

After hearing his words, Easton slightly frowned and asked, “Do you think Jennifer fell on purpose?”

Xavier replied, “Absolutely. I was standing nearby, and she’s pulled these little tricks many times before.”

Easton didn’t comment on it but said, “I’m going for a walk. You go prepare the boat.” His voice was very serious. Easton walked away calmly. Xavier watched his tall figure, feeling a bit puzzled, and wondering, “That’s all?”

Xavier understood that Easton probably didn’t want to hear any more about it, and maybe Easton thought he was just one of the fools himself. Xavier looked at the breakfast in his hand and hurried after Easton, shouting, “Mr. Garcia, you haven’t eaten breakfast yet. You need to have something or you’ll have a stomachache again. It can be really painful.”

Xavier chased after Easton, who said, “Xavier, you’re the only person I can trust.”

Because of those words, Xavier would do anything for Easton, no matter the cost. Easton’s trust really made Xavier willing to go through any hardship for Easton.

Easton turned to look at the breakfast in Xavier’s hand, took it, and sat on the wooden bench next to him. He gestured to the other side and said, “Sit down and eat with me. The view’s great.”

Xavier took a seat, and they each picked up a bowl of oatmeal, eating in unison. In the distance was the ocean, and the morning breeze was gentle, but a bit cold.

Xavier chuckled and remarked, “Mr. Garcia, it’s been a while since I’ve felt this relaxed. The scenery really lifts the spirits.”

Easton tilted his head, his gaze unreadable and mysterious. He said, “Xavier, keep an eye on Colin’s situation and have Ryan watch over it.”

Xavier nodded and said, “Okay! I’ll get down to it as soon as I get back.” Xavier lowered his head, looking at the seafood oatmeal in his hand. It wasn’t tasty. Honestly, the oatmeal Natalie made was really delicious.

Easton wasn’t in the mood to eat anything, so he turned his head and looked towards the room where Natalie was staying. He happened to notice Murray on the balcony, talking on the phone. Easton was fuming inside. Natalie used to be so obedient and naive, always focusing on him, never caring about anyone else. She never got involved with other guys, but now she allowed Murray to enter her room.

Easton took a couple of bites of the oatmeal and set it aside, thinking furiously, ‘Natalie is different!’ Xavier observed this and realized that the oatmeal didn’t suit Easton’s taste. Xavier didn’t say anything and kept eating slowly. Skipping meals wasn’t an option. Xavier had plenty to do every day, and he needed energy to keep himself going.

Jennifer was stressed out, while Natalie leisurely enjoyed her breakfast. After finishing breakfast, the three people were on their way downstairs when they encountered Jennifer by the elevator. She appeared haggard from sleep deprivation, with pronounced dark circles under her eyes, a stark contrast to her usual vivacity.

Murray spotted Jennifer and burst into wild laughter, teasingly saying, “Oh, isn’t that the renowned Ms. Simpson? You don’t seem quite yourself. Why do you look a bit like a panda?”

Jennifer was surprised to see Murray, wondering, ‘Why is he on the island?’ Seeing Natalie, Jennifer suddenly felt a surge of energy.

Jennifer asked with a sarcastic smile, “Mr. Spencer, are you interested in Natalie now? She’s just a country girl, and you really treasure her so much. Aren’t you worried about embarrassing the Spencer family?”

If it hadn’t been for Natalie’s sabotage, Murray should have been working for her. Murray was really a great tool. Jennifer never expected him to follow Natalie. If the Spencer family had supported Jennifer, she wouldn’t be facing such a dilemma. Thankfully, Colin helped solve Jennifer’s financial issues this time. Otherwise, her company’s cash flow would have been cut off. Fortunately, Jennifer swiftly gained Colin’s support after losing the backing of the Spencer family. Now that she had no worries and a great tech team on board, Jennifer was determined to take over the Spencer family.

Murray looked at Natalie with a gentle gaze and said to Jennifer, “If I successfully win Natalie over, I’ll invite you to a celebration party.”

Jennifer was briefly stunned. Then she felt exasperated. She wondered, ‘What’s so special about Natalie that Murray wants to pursue her?’ Jennifer glared fiercely at Natalie before stepping into the elevator.

Natalie gave her a slight smile and stated, “Jennifer, about those four guys last night–I didn’t agree to settle things. I think they might cause you some trouble when they are released.”

Jennifer was taken aback, glared at Natalie, but ended up saying nothing. Tiana breathed a sigh of relief when the elevator door closed. She was genuinely afraid of Natalie’s tactics. Jennifer really knew how to work those big shots, and they all just fell for it.

Tiana said, “Oh, Natalie, I feel scared just at the sight of Jennifer now. She has an endless bag of tricks.”

Natalie looked at Tiana’s pale face and patted her shoulder. Natalie said, “Don’t worry, Tiana, I’m here. Let’s go fishing and take it easy today; winter’s really upon us.” Then Natalie glanced out at the clear sky. Winter was coming. More importantly, the next scenes were going to be even more exciting. Natalie’s eyes held a smile, yet they appeared somewhat cold.

Murray gazed into Natalie’s eyes, which seemed to narrate tales of both her past and present. Murray suddenly became nervous, and for some reason, he felt a dull ache in his limbs.

Tiana said, “Natalie, the elevator’s here. Let’s go.” Natalie snapped back to reality and entered the elevator. However, Murray felt a deep sadness. The feeling was really overwhelming for him.

“Phew…” Murray took a deep breath to calm the discomfort in his heart. Seeing his uneasy expression, Natalie joked with a smile, “Murray, are you scared of Jennifer too?”

Murray managed a smile, though it was quite a strained one. Murray said, “Natalie, I’m not sure what’s happening. Just for a moment, I felt pain all over my body, even in my heart.”

Natalie was shocked. Upon calculating the timeline, she realized that a few months after the Spencer family was annihilated, Jennifer had mutilated Murray, severing his limbs and ensuring his demise. Jennifer was aware that should Murray ever regain his strength, her own fate would be sealed.

Looking at Murray’s pale face, Natalie smiled reassuringly and said, “Don’t worry. You’ll be fine.” This time, Colin would be the one losing it.

Murray chuckled and said, “Great! Being around with you, I’m not afraid.” Seeing the genuine sincerity in Murray’s smile, Natalie didn’t add anything further. Once they reached the first floor, Murray led them to the dock. Natalie glanced at the sunny weather and smiled.

She said, “Wow. The weather is nice today. You’re all getting treated to the best seafood dinner tonight.” Murray forgot about his discomfort and, looking at the vast blue sea, felt his spirits lift. Tiana remarked, “So what are we waiting for? Let’s get going!” Natalie laughed, grabbing her gear, and said happily, “Let’s move.”

Upon arriving at the dock, Natalie was stunned to see a cruise ship. She asked, “Murray, we’re supposed to be camping. Are you planning a cruise?”
