Wendy coldly refused. “Jason, we’ve nothing to discuss. I’ve figured it out. No matter what I say, you won’t listen. I told you before that Jasmine is no good. She went to clubs and was with different men. If you want to raise someone else’s child, that’s your problem.”

She continued, “I was young, too, and I know how important your goddess is to you, but just keep her out of my sight. You love your dad so much and like Jennifer so much. Go talk to them about it.”

Jason said, “Mom, I… I didn’t mean it that way. I just can’t believe that the dad I’ve respected all my life and the sister I’ve loved would do this to me.”

“If you don’t believe it, that’s your problem. I have work at my company, and I don’t have time for your whining.” Wendy hung up the phone and walked away.

Jason lay powerless on the bed, thinking, ‘Now, not even Mom believes me?’

He closed his eyes in pain. As a person with disabled legs, his future life filled him with confusion and fear.

Natalie’s surgery lasted a full eight hours. Over the years, she would come in for surgeries when there were special patients.

After leaving the operating room, Chris nervously asked, “Natalie, are you tired? I’ve prepared dinner for you. Freshen up and eat.” He didn’t ask if it was successful, as he thought, ‘Because with her skills, it has to be a success.’

Natalie pulled off her mask, her face weary, and leaned against the wall, smiling as she asked, “Chris, why didn’t you ask me if the surgery was a success?”

Chris smiled charmingly. “Natalie, I’ve always trusted your skills. My master has always admired your master, and I’ve always admired you.”

Natalie smiled proudly, her tone playful. “Chris, we’re both excellent. You could have done this surgery too, but since it was your brother, you were too worried. Don’t worry, the surgery was very successful.”

Chris finally smiled heartily. “Natalie, thank you so much! Go change your clothes and come eat.”

Chris was so excited that he immediately called his aunt to share the good news.

Natalie changed her clothes, had dinner with Chris, and then left the hospital, where James came to pick her up.

Natalie woke up to find it was already noon the next day. The glaring sunlight streamed in through the window, and she opened her eyes wide, momentarily confused by the familiar room.

Natalie smiled, thinking, ‘Maybe Jason got his karma; I slept pretty well.’

She got out of bed and called Chris first.

“Natalie.” Chris’s voice was cheerful, and it was clear he was in a good mood.

“Chris, how’s your cousin doing?” Natalie stood by the window and saw Valerie running in the garden.

Chris replied, "He is fine, don't worry. Rest well at home."

After hanging up, Natalie freshened up. Later she went to home where he probably went.

She went out to find Valerie, who had just finished a lap and was hydrating. When she saw Natalie, she ran over, panting, and asked, "Natalie, why did you sleep until noon?"

Natalie smiled at her. “Aren’t you the one who just got up to run, though?!”

Valerie laughed, her eyes sparkling with joy. “You know I usually stay up late; sometimes I might not sleep all night when I’m taking orders.”

Valerie looked at her and suddenly said, “Natalie, you’ve lost a lot of your hostility.”

Natalie smiled lightly. “Maybe it’s because I saved someone yesterday.”

Valerie reached out to pat her head, but her touch felt strange. “Natalie, do more good deeds in the future, and you’ll be happy.” Valerie smiled at her, her clear eyes making all evil feel exposed.

“Hehe… with your words, I’m relieved. I will definitely be happy.” Natalie knew that Valerie wouldn’t lie to her.

She said, “Valerie, I’m in a great mood today, and I don’t need to go to the office. You go take a shower and change clothes; let’s go out for some good food.” Then she thought, “Today, I can spend quality time with Valerie.”
