Chapter 124
Natalie saw her design drafts scattered all over the office floor, some already torn by Jason. He was still tearing up the new design she had made just yesterday.
Infuriated, Natalie stormed in, staring angrily at Jason, who was ripping up her designs. โJason, are you crazy? Do you know how important these sketches are to me? I spent days on them.โ
Jason tossed the design at her dismissively, his eyes showing contempt. โNatalie, do you really think a bumpkin like you can design clothes? Jennifer said sheโs entering the designer competition too. I wonโt let someone like you mess up her future.โ
Natalieโs eyes flared with anger as she raised her hand. She slapped Jason across the face without hesitation.
Jason was taken aback for a moment, utterly in disbelief. Looking into Natalieโs icy cold eyes, he paused, a sudden panic rising in his heart. โNa- Natalie, did you hit me?โ
โSo what if I hit you? Do I need to choose a special day to do it? Youโve ruined my future over Jennifer. Should I just let it go? Iโve been too nice to you, always accommodating, which made you think Iโm easy to push around.
โI should have let you die in that car accident. I risked my life getting you out, only for Jennifer to take the credit,โ After that, she suddenly grabbed Jasonโs arm. Before he could react, she threw him over her shoulder, slamming him onto the ground.
Jason groaned in pain, gasping as he stared at Natalie in horror. He found she was quite strong.
With a cold and determined gaze, tears streamed down Natalieโs beautiful face. She spoke deliberately, โYou say Jennifer saved you back then. Ask her, could she have carried you?
Jason, you ruined my designs today, and I wonโt blame you because your fate is already written. Iโll watch as Jennifer destroys all of you, one by one. Fuck off!โ Then she kicked his arm.
Jason winced in pain, glaring at Natalieโs cool face. โNatalie, you totally took Jenniferโs credit.โ
โYes, I took her credit, but Iโve already left the Simpson family. Why do you keep coming after me? What does Jenniferโs future have to do with me? Why would you ruin my future for her?
โJason, youโre not even human. Get out, I never want to see you again,โ After Natalie finished speaking, she crouched down, staring at the ruined designs, feeling drained. These were the designs she had worked hard on for days, and now they were destroyed.
Jason sat up with a sharp grin on his face, looking at Natalieโs painful silhouette. He felt miserable too. He couldnโt figure out if Jennifer was telling the truth or if it was Natalie.
โNatalie, you say you saved me. Can you prove it?โ Jason asked, unwilling to accept it. He thought Natalie was too vicious to save him.
Natalie jumped up, her eyes deep and sharp. โGet out,โ With that she called security.
โHello? Ms. Shawn.โ
Natalie snapped, โDidnโt I make it clear last time that no one from the Simpson family is allowed in?โ
โSorry, Ms. Shawn. I had an upset stomach this morning, and maybe while I was in the bathroom, he sneaked in.โ
Natalie angrily hung up the phone. Staring down Jasonโs hateful glare, her gaze was iceโcold, sending chills down his spine.
Jason, do you think Jennifer can climb to success by stepping over me? Dream on. I wonโt let you succeed. There isnโt anyone decent in your family. Get lost!โ Her rage reached its peak.
Jason was furious. He stood up and walked away. At the door, he heard Natalieโs fragile sobbing, and his fists clenched involuntarily. Turning back, he saw Natalie holding a pile of design sketches, crying, and it didnโt sit well with him.
Sheโs still his sister after all. But he didnโt understand why she was so clueless. โNatalie, Jennifer is more talented than you. You should give her the opportunity."
Natalie gave him a hateful look. โJason, youโre unbelievable! What does her talent have to do with me? Who do you think you are to demand I give in? If youโre so capable, you can make her successful.
โWhy should I be the one to step aside? Iโve signed the papers to cut ties with you. To me, youโre just a stranger. What right do you have to ask me to step aside?โ
Jason was speechless. โBut this whole thing started because of you. If you hadnโt called the police-โ
โSo I shouldโve just waited for them to humiliate and assault me? Jason, look how malicious you are. Didnโt this all start because of you? Why should I have to be bullied by you? Who gave you the right to lecture me?
โYour mom just gave birth to me, someone else raised me. Over the years Iโve stayed with your family, Iโve already repaid the debt of being born. I donโt owe you anything anymore. Jason, youโre just as shameless as your dad.
โWhenever something happens, you just throw the blame on someone else. You caused the problem yet push it onto the weak to take the fall so you can keep your hands clean. Youโre just the epitome of despicable shamelessness! Get lost!โ
Natalie cried out in pain, her messy hair obscuring her vision.
โNatalie, you-โ Jason was speechless, fully aware it was his fault. โBut nothing happened to you, so why are you bothered?โ
Natalie smirked coldly, keeping silent. In a few days, sheโd return those words to him. She bent down to pick up the design drafts from the floor.
Jason frowned and asked, โNatalie, are you really a designer? Didnโt you grow up in an impoverished town?โ
โYeah. Thatโs why you all look down on me, isnโt it? I was abandoned at birth. I was just an infant then. I didnโt have any choice in my life. Thatโs not my fault and it has nothing to do with your family. So could you just leave?โ
Jason felt a pang in his heart as he saw Natalieโs eyes calm again. He wanted to say he didnโt mean it that way, but his words failed him, and he left in long strides.
But the image of Natalie being upset over those design drafts lingered in his mind, and he realized heโd gone too far. He thought it was Natalie who had pushed him to this point, convincing himself he wasnโt wrong.
After Jason left, Natalie picked up all the design drafts and realized many were now unusable. She wiped her tears, not losing hope, reminding herself that time would make everything right.
She knew sheโd eventually deal with all of them. She sat in her office chair and took a deep breath. She grabbed a damp tissue to wipe her eyes, feeling much better afterward. Yet she couldnโt figure out what was bothering her. The tears just kept coming.
