Chapter 123
โEas-โ Natalie started to call Eastonโs name but then saw Jennifer embracing him. Her brow furrowed slightly, and a flash of pain crossed her eyes. She wondered if Easton had called her over just for this.
Easton also saw Natalie, and the glint of pain flashed through her eyes. His heart gave a sharp jolt, and he pushed Jennifer away.
Jennifer fell awkwardly onto the floor, her gaze dark as she watched Eastonโs back.
โNatalie, listen to me-โ
โWhat do you want to say? Do you want to tell me how heated you two were last night? Did you call me here just to show off how in love you are?โ
โEaston, I remember you used to be a bit reserved, but at least you werenโt this deceitful. Is it true you become like the person youโre with?โ Natalie turned around and left, not wanting to stay there a moment longer.
โNatalie, come back!โ Easton shouted angrily.
Jennifer smirked with pride, watching in a half-amused way as Natalie walked away. The timing today was perfect. She never thought Natalie would come back. It was pure luck that the timing was so perfect.
She slowly got up from the ground, walked over to Easton, and linked her arm to his. โEaston, Natalie clearly doesnโt want to come back. Why insist on it? Her heartโs not with you. Since she left, there have been countless men around her."
โEaston, did you forget the promise you made to me?โ Jennifer looked at Easton, tears in her eyes, posing a picture of vulnerability that could melt anyoneโs heart.
Easton pulled his hand away, took off his jacket, and threw it aside.
Jennifer was taken aback. Watching Eastonโs disdainful actions, she felt pain in her heart. She was always the one he tolerated, indulged, and loved. Now, his disdainful look and actions deeply wounded her heart. โEaston, what do you mean by this?โ Her eyes turned cold, her voice full of hurt.
โCanโt you see? Jennifer, you saved my life, and Iโve repaid you with billions over the years. From now on, you can do what you want, but if you dare to mess with me and Natalie, Iโll take back those billions with interest," Easton was never a good person.
Jennifer was taken aback, then burst into laughter, โEaston, isnโt it just because Iโm not truly a Simpson that you look down on me? But is blood relation really that important? I was the one there as you grew up, not Natalie."
โHave you even forgotten all those happy times we shared in the past? Since I was a kid, I knew I was going to marry you. I turned down all the other men and stayed by your side wholeheartedly."
โHonestly, Easton, it was your mom who forced me to leave back then. Itโs not that I didnโt want to look after you.โ
โThatโs enough! Get out!โ Easton growled, not wanting to listen to her ramblings as his eyes shone with a chilling light.
Jennifer bit her lip as she looked at his cold, handsome face. Her anger had peaked. She knew Easton well and realized that he was on the brink of losing his temper, so she left.
No one dared to face Eastonโs anger. Easton grew up in the dark. He wasnโt a good person, and aside from knowing his temper, Jennifer never knew what was on his mind.
Easton sat on the couch, a cold glare in his eyes. He sat for a moment and then called Xavier.
โMr. Garcia,โ said Xavier, standing outside the door, watching Natalie storm away angrily. He also saw Jennifer leave, tears running down her face. He wondered what on earth happened this morning.
โCome in and have breakfast,โ Easton spoke quietly and hung up the phone.
All of a sudden, Xavier didnโt feel like going in. He couldnโt really eat with Easton giving him that icy stare. But he must go in. Seeing the door was slightly open, he went in.
Easton was already at the dining table, picking up his fork to eat breakfast. Omelet, steak, and milk were all his favorites. Natalie always made breakfast the way he liked it. But everything began to change after Jennifer returned. He indulged Jennifer to play tricks.
Xavier walked over, sat down, and smiled at the spread of food. โThanks for the breakfast, Mr. Garcia.โ
Easton took a bite of his pepper steak before asking, โDid you look into what I asked about last night?โ
Xavier replied, โMr. Garcia, youโre always ahead of things. The Spencer family has been having issues with their branches lately but canโt find the root cause. Murray has been trying to sort it out but without luck, and theyโve lost two partnerships, which is quite unfortunate.โ
Eastonโs eyes narrowed. Natalie was right after all. He lowered his gaze and continued eating.
Noticing his silence, Xavier began eating faster. โBy the way, Mr. Garcia, was Ms. Simpson here last night? I saw Ms. Shawn go in and then she left almost immediately. A few minutes later, Ms. Simpson also came out.โ
Eastonโs eyes darkened slightly as he glanced over. โHow could Jennifer possibly be staying here?โ
Xavier couldnโt help but say, โMr. Garcia, have you forgotten? A few months ago, Jennifer was allowed to stay here, and the guest room was stocked with her designer clothes and personal items."
โAnd she could freely enter your room. Ms. Shawn once told you that this was your shared home, and it was inconvenient for Jennifer to visit. Do you remember what you said back then?โ
Of course, Easton remembered. At that time, he thought he was going to marry Jennifer. During that period, Natalie and Jennifer were constantly arguing, and there were problems with the company projects. He was stressed, and Natalie often provoked Jennifer. His tone with Natalie wasnโt good at all.
Easton put down his fork, his voice hoarse and rough. โGet rid of all the clothes upstairs, and Jennifer is not allowed to be here anymore.โ
Xavier was taken aback, almost tearing up. He said, โMr. Garcia! Congratulations! Youโve finally realized whatโs right. Before Jennifer returned, you and Mrs. Garcia had been doing so well."
โGiven your condition of being blind and unable to stand, itโs very challenging to care for someone like you. But Mrs. Garcia didnโt complain at all. She tirelessly gave you acupuncture, handled your hygiene, administered your medicine, and cooked delicious meals for you."
โShe was so busy that she barely had time to catch her breath. To Jennifer, her efforts just seemed like those of a housekeeper.โ
Xavier smiled and had his breakfast, then had someone come over to clear out all of Jenniferโs stuff.
Natalie stormed off to the office, fuming. Thinking of Easton and Jenniferโs shameless behavior really got under her skin.
Ever since Jennifer came back, sheโs constantly interfered between them. Natalie had given Easton many chances, but he only cared about Jennifer and always made excuses for her. Even though the love was gone, thinking about the past still made Natalie angry.
She forcefully pushed open the door and was stunned by the scene in the office, her eyes blazing with intense anger.
