Chapter 494
Bowen took a hard fall, twisting his back in the process. As he got up, he winced, clutching his lower back, his face a picture of discomfort. But when he looked up and saw Aubree smiling at him with a gentle look, his expression softened, and he couldnโt help but smile back.
Bowen thought, โAlright, itโs my fault, so I guess I have to take the punishment. After all, I have fallen for her already!โ
After a bit of playful chaos, the two settled back into their routines. Aubree needed to head off to school, and Bowen had to go to work. They sat down together for breakfast. But as Bowen made his way downstairs, still holding his back, the housekeepers and maids couldnโt help but steal glances at him. Gossip spread like wildfire. Soon, everyone at Ellis Heights was whispering that Bowenโs future wife had great skills in bed.
Aubree casually mentioned to Bowen, โBree Technologyโs position in the internet sector is pretty solid now. The only thing left is to break into some overseas markets, but with Aidan helping out, everythingโs been going pretty smoothly.โ
Bowen was already in the loop since he still owned 30% of Bree Technology.
Aubree said thoughtfully, โBut shifting our focus means connections are going to be a real issue.โ Cutting-edge industries were all tied up with the government. The top business families in the country were experts at working these circles. The Turner family specialized in artificial intelligence. Rumors had it that some of Turner Groupโs most advanced projects had already been brought under government control, but Aubree never asked Bowen for the details.
โThatโs not really a big deal,โ Bowen said with a casual wave, โWith the kind of money you have now, even those big shots in the industry would be lining up to work with you.โ Nobody liked it if people barged in and stole their market, but if they could work together and made money at the same time, no one would say no to that.
โLetโs hope so,โ Aubree said, then suddenly remembered something. โOh, by the way, I got an invitation from the Mansell family.โ
โThe Mansell family? The ones in biotech and pharmaceuticals?โ Bowen asked.
โThatโs the one,โ Aubree confirmed.
โWe can go,โ Bowen said, โItโs their youngest daughterโs engagement party. I got an invitation too, and Iโm planning to attend.โ Aubree remembered that the Mansell family seemed to have some business dealings with Daxton, so sheโd already been thinking about checking it out. Now that Bowen was planning to go as well, she was even more determined to attend.
When the car pulled up to Rithol University, Aubree got out. She turned to Bowen and said, โIโm heading to class now. No matter how busy you get at work, donโt forget to take care of yourself, alright?โ She waved at him before heading inside.
After a year at university, even though Aubree wasnโt on campus that much, she was still a campus celebrity. Whenever she actually showed up for class, there was always a crowd eager to chat her up. After a while, everyone in her class recognized her face. She wasnโt exactly close with anyone, but making small talk was never a problem.
โHey, Aubreeโs here!โ someone called out as soon as she walked in.
โAubree, over here. Sit here!โ another voice chimed in. Someone even shifted over in the corner and waved her over. Aubree didnโt refuse and took the seat.
โAubree, have you heard the latest about Turner Group?โ one of her classmates asked, eyes practically sparkling with gossip.
Aubree shook her head and said half-jokingly, โIf I start poking my nose into someone elseโs company, the people at Turner Group might start getting suspicious about my intentions.โ
That only seemed to make the classmate even more excited. She asked, โYou know Alvin, right? Itโs the man from the Turner family whoโs really close to you. Heโs majoring in finance this semester. At first, we all thought he was just some rich kid who didnโt know what real life was like, but then he passed his final exams early and landed a job at Turner Group. And thatโs not all. I heard heโs already taken on a bunch of projects and worked his way up from a junior staffer to a project manager. Sure, his family background probably helped, but still, heโs really impressive!โ
