Chapter 30

Randy went to Stella’s house and found she hadn’t returned. However, he saw the tie clip she had planned to give him. At that moment, his heart settled a little. Stella liked him. Thus, the whole marriage between her and Rowan had to be fake.

He sat down and waited for her all morning, but all he got was the cat meowing endlessly at him. He didn’t know where Rowan lived. Among the wealthy heirs in Landale, there were two leading circles; his circle had always been at odds with Rowan’s and he had never bothered to find out where Rowan lived. Even if he did manage to dig up Rowan’s address, showing up there to look for Stella wouldn’t be appropriate.

He waited for her until almost 1:00 pm. That was when he decided to head to the banquet, hoping that she might be there. He was unaware that Rowan and Stella had also left for the banquet after he left.

Randy couldn’t see Stella when he scanned through the hall, so when he heard Celina say she might be with Rowan, his face darkened.

Upon seeing this, Celina quickly grabbed his arm. "Randy, where are you going?"

Lewis, Celina’s father, tried to smooth things over with a laugh, "Yeah, Randy, you just got here. Why are you leaving already? Where are Mr. and Mrs. Mo? Have they arrived yet?"

Randy shook Celina’s hand off, clearly annoyed. "They’re not coming today!"

"What?" All three members of the Fairchild family froze.

Jessie’s smile stiffened. "What do you mean? Didn’t we already agree that we will discuss the engagement between our families today?"

"Exactly! What do you mean they’re not coming?" Celina interjected.

"Engagement?" Randy scoffed. "The person I want to be engaged to isn’t even here. Who am I supposed to be engaged to?"

"You!" Celina’s eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean by that? Who do you want to get engaged to?!" Their raised voices drew the attention of other guests, who stopped talking to watch the drama unfold.

"Celina is here. Who else are you expecting to be here?" Lewis’ smile faltered.

Randy’s smile turned colder. "I already have a fiancée. Don’t you know who she is?" All three members of the Fairchild family gasped at his words.

Before they could grasp what he meant, Stella walked in, and everyone in the hall turned to face her in unison. At that moment, the atmosphere became even stranger. Stella’s expression was calm and aloof. She walked in softly and casually brushed away a stray lock of hair that had fallen across her chest. Every movement and every gesture she made held an entrancing allure.

Randy spotted her immediately. His gaze flickered, and for a moment, he almost didn’t recognize her. She seemed more dazzling than he had ever remembered, as if she had become prettier overnight. His fists tightened. He had one hand in his pocket, gripping the jewelry box he had taken from her house. The corner of his lips twisted into a cold smile as his gaze fixed on Stella. He figured she’d dressed up so well to win him back. He wanted to see just how she intended to beg him.

When the Fairchild family saw Stella walk in, their first instinct was to look behind her. But they didn’t see Rowan; just a few reporters followed behind her. At that moment, they were confident the marriage between Stella and Rowan was fake.
