Listen to this chapter:

“If they checked the cameras and the police decided I was guilty, you guys could say whatever you wanted and it’d be fine, but right now, up to this point, I was still innocent.”

As she finished speaking, her lips closed. She tried to open them to say something again, but after a moment, she closed her mouth again.

Alaricka didn’t hear those two men talking behind her.

She closed her eyes for a moment, and when she opened them again, she had made up her mind.

She called softly, “Kier.”

Her voice was low and soft, with a girlish innocence and obvious affection.

Patrick’s eyes suddenly trembled.

If he hadn’t already known that Alaricka and Kieran had a tense relationship, he would’ve thought they were really close. Even calling him “Kier” sounded so natural, like she’d said it a bunch of times before.

He looked at Kieran with a complicated expression in his eyes.

He stood behind Kieran, and all he could see was Kieran’s back.

Couldn’t see Kieran’s expression.

He felt a bit unhappy.

He put this dissatisfaction down to Kieran still not handling things with Alaricka in time. Even though he and Roschelle had already gotten this far, Kieran was still being unclear with other women.

Still with Alaricka.

Everyone knew what Alaricka was thinking, didn’t Kieran know too?!

Patrick was a bit angry.

Kieran definitely knew, he knew, but still didn’t deal with Alaricka.

Patrick was not happy.

He and Kieran were both guys, so how could they not understand those little thoughts guys had?

He didn’t cherish a great girl like Rose, and instead messed around with other women. Right in front of him, Alaricka even dared to say “Kier.”

It was just ridiculous.

Patrick looked at Kieran, then at Alaricka, whose body was under the blanket with only her head showing, and he just couldn’t calm down.

Alaricka sat up, lifted her clear black-and-white eyes, and just quietly looked at Kieran, her gaze bright and clear.

She opened her mouth: “Kier.”

“I thought, after a few years together at the Argent’s villa, you should know me a bit, should trust me, and should understand what kind of person I am.”

At first, Alaricka’s eyes were calm. As the words slipped out, her gaze shifted a bit, like she was in pain.

“I couldn’t understand, I really couldn’t understand, what did I do to make you treat me like this?”

She looked at Kieran, her eyes full of confusion and doubt, and a hint of sadness.

Alaricka leaned her upper body toward Kieran, like she wanted to see the expression on Kieran’s face more clearly.

There was one more thing she didn’t say.

She really wanted to ask Kieran.

Was her liking for him just that dirty?

Or was it that Roschelle was just so pure, that no matter what she did, everything was wrong in front of Roschelle.

She stared hard into Kieran’s eyes.

Alaricka’s eyelashes fluttered.

She called Kieran by what she used to call him before, just wanting Kieran to remember the past, at least not be so cruel to her.

Even after she said all that, she still didn’t see any reaction in Kieran’s expression.

Kieran looked at her the same way he looked at any random little flower or weed by the road.

It was even colder.

Alaricka leaned her back against the headboard, her hands hidden under the blanket clenched so hard they were almost shaking.

She thought, the answer didn’t really matter anymore…

Kieran suddenly spoke up and broke her train of thought.

“Alaricka, I already told you, don’t even think about messing with me.”

Patrick finally heard Kieran’s calm and decisive voice, and let out a huge sigh of relief.

Alaricka lowered her eyelids and let out a soft snort.

Yes, she remembered Kieran’s words very clearly.

Don’t even think about Kieran, that was her most unforgettable lesson, the thing she was most afraid to forget.

It was that feeling when she was young that Kieran was out of reach that totally ruined her life.

Kieran already said it, so she didn’t need to overthink it.

In her last life, she learned too many hard lessons. In this life, she didn’t dare to dream anymore.

Alaricka clasped her hands in front of her lower belly, lowered her eyelids, and said quietly, “Don’t worry, from now on, I won’t have any other thoughts about you.”

“You and Roschelle could both relax.”

When Alaricka looked up, her eyes were clear again, with no sign of the emotion from before, and her voice was calm.

“I hoped you guys would wait until the police finished their investigation before making any conclusions about me.”
