Chapter 194
Alarieka raised her hand to touch her stinging cheek, swallowed the metallic taste rising in her throat, and forced down the dizziness in her head.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm hard.
Patrick’s voice exploded by her ear: “Come on, go to the police station with me!”
Alarieka really didn’t have the strength to fight back, and was actually hoping the police investigation would clear her name, so she didn’t resist Patrick’s rough pulling and just got yanked up by him.
The moment Patrick grabbed Alarieka’s arm, he suddenly felt a faint hesitation in his heart.
A thought flashed through his mind. Alarieka was so skinny, like she was malnourished. The flesh on her arms was almost nothing, even thinner than Roschelle, who was always slim and frail.
And Alarieka’s body was all soft, with no resistance, and he just pulled her up.
Looking at Alarieka, who looked so weak, made Patrick frown even more. He impatiently yanked Alarieka over and said coldly, “Alarieka, what are you pretending for? You already did this kind of thing, so acting pitiful now is useless.”
Alarieka was yanked by Patrick and stumbled. Her hair swung in the air, and through the strands, she saw Kieran’s legs. Alarieka’s head spun, her eyelids weakly fighting to stay open, and she didn’t have the strength to lift her head to see Kieran’s expression.
She could only hear Kieran’s voice coming through, sometimes clear, sometimes fuzzy.
“Let the police handle it… Don’t use your hands…”
Kieran’s voice was actually really nice. Quite a few friends said that if he lost his job, he could be a voice actor, and he’d definitely get a bunch of fans just for his voice.
But Patrick listened and was just left with a bunch of frustration. If Kieran could handle Alarieka, how would Rose have been treated like this? All in all, Kieran wasn’t innocent.
He impatiently cut Kieran off: “I know what to do, I don’t need you to teach me.” He glanced at Roschelle, stayed silent for a moment, then said quietly, “Right now, Rose needs you more. You go with Rose to the hospital, I’ll take Alarieka to the police station.”
As he spoke, he gave Kieran a warning look: “You’d better take care of Rose, or I won’t let you off.”
Kieran said, “Okay.”
He had just finished talking with Kieran when he finally noticed that something seemed off with the woman he was holding.
Alarieka seemed to have no strength at all; her whole body was limp. She didn’t even lift her head and just kept falling down. He couldn’t hold her up with one hand. Patrick just felt like Alarieka was up to something again, trying to get his sympathy.
He frowned and sneered, “Alarieka, got scared just hearing about the police station? Don’t pretend to be pitiful. I’ll definitely take you to the police station.”
As he spoke, Patrick impatiently tugged Alarieka’s arm again, “Stand still, I don’t want to hold you.” As he spoke, he was about to let go.
In front of him, Alarieka’s body went limp and fell to the ground. Alarieka’s black hair covered her face, and she just lay there without moving.
Both men’s eyebrows twitched.
Patrick stood still and didn’t move, gritting his teeth and saying impatiently, “Alarieka, there’s got to be a limit to playing the victim. I stopped pretending to faint with such lame tricks back in middle school.”
Alarieka didn’t respond.
There was a flash of panic in Patrick’s eyes, and he raised his voice, “Alarieka, I told you, don’t play dead with me!”
Alarieka lay calmly on the ground, still didn’t respond.
There was a ripple in the darkness of Kieran’s eyes. Patrick looked at Kieran for a few seconds, walked over, lifted his foot, and tapped Alarieka’s calf with his toe: “Alarieka, what are you pretending for?”
Alarieka still didn’t respond.
Kieran said, “Something’s off.”
Kieran walked up, put his hand on Alarieka’s shoulder, and lifted Alarieka’s upper body. The soaked hair finally fell down, showing Alarieka’s pale, bloodless face, and the very obvious slap mark on her pale cheek.
Alarieka kept her eyes shut tight, like she was already completely silent.
Kieran’s brows twitched a little. He shook Alarieka’s upper body and said in a low voice, “Alarieka.”
Alarieka’s body moved with his actions, her hands hung limply at her sides, and her head even drooped off to the side because of the movement, hanging there weakly, not moving at all.
Patrick stared with his eyes slightly wide. “How did this happen? Rose didn’t faint, so how did she faint first?”
Kieran lowered his eyelids and looked at Alarieka without much emotion in his eyes. His voice was low and hoarse as he said, “She’s afraid of water, she can’t swim.”
