Chapter 156

“Hurry up and get Clarissa over here.”

Kieran still kept his eyes closed and didn’t say anything.

Knock, knock, knock—

The knocking suddenly started again, and Alarieka’s heart tightened up right away. She suddenly dropped her hand and looked up at the door.

“Kier, were you in there?”

It was Roschelle’s voice. Alarieka hadn’t figured out what to do yet when someone turned the doorknob from outside the lounge.

“Kier, I came in.”

Alarieka took a breath, and her feet reacted faster than her brain, running straight to hide behind the tall cabinet. Roschelle came in. She saw Kieran resting with his eyes closed on the sofa. “Kier, so you were here. Why didn’t you say anything?”

Alarieka hid behind the cabinet and only dared to move her eyes carefully to see what was going on over there. From her angle, she could only see the sofa.

Kieran opened his eyes, sat up, and said in a low, hoarse voice, “Sit down.”

Roschelle walked over, her steps a bit hurried. She saw the wine glass on the coffee table and said softly, “You drank?”

Kieran nodded. He looked a lot better than just now. Roschelle sat comfortably next to Kieran, their arms touching. Roschelle turned her back to Alarieka and looked over her shoulder at Kieran.

Her voice was soft: “Do you have a headache again?”

Kieran’s lips curled up a little, his dark eyes focused on Roschelle: “It’s okay now.”

Roschelle seemed to sigh, reached out to take the wine glass from the coffee table, put it on her left side, away from Kieran, and said, “Then don’t drink tonight. If someone toasts you, I’ll do it for you.”

A hint of amusement appeared in Kieran’s dark eyes: “How could I let a woman drink for me?”

Roschelle hummed softly, “Do you look down on me?”

Kieran snickered, “How could that be?”

Roschelle raised her wrist, checked her watch, and said, “The party’s starting in five minutes. Let’s head over first.”

Kieran went mm.

Then, he suddenly turned his head and looked toward Alarieka’s spot. Caught off guard, Alarieka met Kieran’s eyes. Roschelle seemed to notice and tilted her head a bit, like she was about to look over. Her heart skipped a beat. Luckily, Kieran quickly looked away, and Roschelle’s attention went back to Kieran.

“Kier, your tie wasn’t straight. Let me fix it for you.”

Roschelle raised her hands, grabbed Kieran’s loosened tie with her two slender, fair hands, and leaned her upper body closer to Kieran. From Alarieka’s point of view, Roschelle and Kieran’s upper bodies were basically pressed together. Kieran sat sideways so Roschelle could tie his tie better. So, Alarieka could see Kieran’s expression really clearly. Kieran lowered his eyelids a little, his dark eyes focused on Roschelle’s face.

Alarieka quickly looked away and turned her eyes to the white wall. A moment later, I heard Roschelle’s voice behind me: “Alright, let’s go.”

Soon, the sound of their footsteps came up, and they slowly walked from the couch to the door. The last thing was to close the door.

People in this city all knew that Kieran never brought a date to parties; at most he just brought his own assistant. But ever since Roschelle got back with Kieran, whenever Kieran went to a party with a date, it could only be Roschelle. So, when everyone saw Roschelle come out holding Kieran’s arm, they smiled knowingly.

The good things between Roschelle and Kieran, and all the care and love Kieran showed Roschelle, everyone knew about. But maybe someone still wanted to marry into the family. Not just for Kieran, but also for Roschelle. Both of them were top in their own fields, young, outstanding, and smart.

Some people not only thought this way, but also did this. No matter if it was a guy or a girl, whenever they went up to start a conversation, they always came back looking embarrassed. Anyone could tell that no one could get between Kieran and Roschelle.

Besides, as long as any guy came up to talk, Kieran would wrap his arm around Roschelle’s slim waist with a possessive look and stare at the guy with an intense gaze. If a woman wanted to talk to Kieran, Roschelle didn’t have to do anything—Kieran would just send them away himself.

Even though Kieran and Roschelle weren’t the main focus of the party, a lot of people still paid attention to them. That’s why I noticed what they did and secretly thought, their relationship is really strong.

A lady came up to chat: “Ms. Whitaker, your relationship with Mr. Argent was really, really good. I was honestly jealous just watching you two.”

Roschelle smiled and took Kieran’s arm, laughing softly, and said, “Kier and I weren’t as good as you guys said.”
