Chapter 207
The four of them went into the study together, leaving the group in the hall stunned.
After entering the room, Francesca and Jaden began discussing work, while Collin and Chris chatted on the side.
“Thank you for coming to help me out,” said Collin as he poured tea for Chris. He had heard that Chris didn’t like coffee much. Fortunately, the Phillips family was traditional, so they had far more good tea than coffee at home.
“It’s nothing. Jessica said that you and Jaden were being pestered. Since I could help, I naturally came.”
“Well, they can’t really stir up any real trouble. Let them chatter all they want. It’s impossible for them to get a share from me.”
After the way they had treated Collin back then, now that he had turned the tables, there was no way he would give them any chance to get back at him.
Collin’s parents, Theo and Hazel Phillips, had left all their assets to their biological son, Collin, without even giving the others a single property. As Hurricane Media grew bigger, their greed increased. Real estate was no longer enough for them–they wanted Hurricane Media itself.
The recent commotion had been more frequent, and their main goal was to secure positions within Hurricane Media.
They wanted titles, dividends, and no responsibilities.
Collin had no intention of agreeing.
“Hurricane Media is a place where countless talents from all over gather, and it is the dream destination for all literature enthusiasts, journalists, and students. I will absolutely not let these parasites pollute it. My parents built it that way, and as their successor, I naturally have to follow their principles.”
Chris nodded. “There are very few people like you left in the industry now. Family businesses inevitably attract parasites. Even the Wilder Group has a few. But Jessica only gives them ordinary positions, never allows no-show jobs, and if they perform poorly, they’re immediately dismissed. Even with that, there are still plenty of people cursing her behind her back.”
Whatever you did, someone would find fault. Since that was the case, it was better not to bother pleasing anyone.
“Alright, let’s settle it then. At the opening ceremony, it will be announced that Hurricane Media will have exclusive coverage of the Summit Infirmary in the future. The authorization document can only be signed after the legal department drafts it.” Francesca and Jaden were enjoying their conversation and had already tentatively agreed on the collaboration.
Once the discussion was mostly finished, Francesca found herself a spot to rest. She kept her head down, confirming contract clauses with the legal team on her phone, not interrupting the others‘ conversation.
“Your secretary is excellent. She picks things up immediately. With her by your side, everything gets done twice as efficiently,” Jaden said as he sat next to Collin and casually drank from Collin’s cup.
Chris also acknowledged Francesca’s abilities.
“Of course. With Francesca around, I can just be a figurehead. She can handle everything at the Summit Infirmary and even manages my personal affairs very well.”
“That was Jessica’s idea, wasn’t it?” asked Jaden. “You came specifically to find me instead of Collin so you could establish my authority and keep the Phillips family from making things difficult for me.”
“Of course.” Chris didn’t hesitate to praise his wife. “Jessica always comes up with such schemes, and it seems they’re working well now.”
They chatted in the study for a long time. As night fell, Jessica called to say she had left the company and was heading to Blue Sakura.
Only then did they go downstairs, with Chris deliberately walking beside Jaden.
“Alright, then we’ll proceed according to Mr. Frost’s suggestions. The terms will be implemented in the contract. I’m looking forward to our cooperation.”
Jaden personally opened the door for Chris. “I wonder if you’ll like the food at Blue Sakura. I heard from Jessica that you enjoy Galian Cuisine.”
“I’ll go along with the host.”
With that, the group headed out.
