Chapter 752: E36 Vouchers
In that corner, his tall figure blocked my way as he stepped around the table, trapping me against the wall. His eyes were dark, intense, totally overbearing. โVic, donโt marry him. Please?โ
I sucked in a sharp breath, my chest rising and falling with how hard I was breathing. โWho are you to tell me what I can or canโt do?โ
โMy feelings for you have never changed. Iโve always been trying to get closer to youโฆโ Ryan said, his voice low and intense.
โThatโs enough,โ I snapped, cutting him off. โIโm not a little kidโdonโt try to fool me with your so-called feelings.โ
โBelieve it or not, Iโve already mapped out our future together. If Edward hadnโt gotten in the way, things wouldโve been amazing for us,โ Ryan said, his breath coming fast, clearly just as worked up as I was.
โWake up and face reality. Donโt you care about your future?โ His words snapped me back to reality. โEdward said it bestโonly hold on to what you can truly grasp, only then can you control it. What you have right now just isnโt enough.โ
โIs that so?โ Ryan narrowed his eyes. โIf the day comes when I have enough power, even if youโre already my aunt, Iโll still snatch you away. Is that really what you want to see?โ
โRyan, youโre really sick. You should go take your meds,โ I said, shaking my head.
โIโm not sick. Iโm perfectly clear about what I want and why Iโm fighting for it,โ Ryan nearly growled, his voice rough with emotion. โI know this road is tough, but I have no other choice.โ
โYou should be focusing on your future, not getting distracted by all this. Once youโve made it to the top, your whole perspective will change. Maybe three or five years from now, youโll look back and realize you sounded like some reckless kid. By then, youโll have more women wanting to be with you than you can count,โ I said coolly. After finishing, I shoved him aside and walked out.
Ryan turned, dazed, watching me go. I didnโt look backโI just darted straight into the ladiesโ room.
I knew Ryan was feeling resentful right now, but that was just because he was still young and hadnโt really lost much yet. He thinks his love is something precious, but thatโs only because he hasnโt been through enough.
Honestly, once heโs climbed higher and made it big, heโll probably look back on today and regret how reckless he wasโmaybe even laugh at himself for it.
I stayed in the bathroom until it was time to board, then finally came out.
Ryan was already gone, as if that intense showdown between us had never even happenedโlike it was all just a dream.
I boarded the plane back to Hachester, and as we soared through the sky, I took a moment to reflect on everything that had happened.
After my second chance at life, I divorced Jared. My heart felt like it had a gaping hole in it after that. Then Nathan came along, warming me up like the winter sun, making me think he was the one. But his secrets pushed me right back into the cold. That was when Ryan showed up, full of youthful energy, throwing himself at me. He was like a wildfire, bringing so much passion and emotional value into my life. I thought maybe this was fateโs little gift to me.
But instead, it turned out to be a shock. He was about to get into an arranged marriage, and it happened so suddenly I didnโt even have time to process it. With feelings that hadnโt even cooled yet, I ran back to Hachester and threw myself into work, just trying to numb everything inside.
During that time, both Jared and Nathan dropped hints, but I just let it go. Honestly, I thought we were better off as just friends.
I always knew where to draw the line when it came to flirting or messing around. After we parted ways, I never reached out or tried to flirt with either of them.
From the very first moment I met Edward, his name seemed to wrap itself around my life, always lingering in the background. Through the crisis at Hayes Corp, the days at the school building, that night when I was helpless after taking the wrong meds, and even the car accident when he rushed to save meโEdwardโs love was as vast as the sea and as steady as the mountains, quiet but everywhere. Right now, it felt like heโd spun an invisible web around me, holding me close and not letting go.
This was a web of love, woven with his care and thoughtfulness. In every single thread, I could feel his presence.
Outside the cabin window, the clouds glowed gold in the sunlight. When we finally broke through, the world opened up into a vast, endless blue sky.
Life always comes with regrets, no matter which path you choose. Guess all I can do is leave it up to fate now.
But Ryanโฆ he was a hidden danger I couldnโt ignore.
