I finally understood what people meantโwhen you meet someone who truly takes your breath away, everyone else is just passing through your life.
โIโm scaredโฆ What if I get used to being treated like this by Edward? If I ever lose him, would I even know how to go back to the way things were before?โ I couldnโt help but worry.
Habits are scary things. Once you start depending on someone, that need just grows and grows until it takes over everything.
My mind was wandering all over the place, and before I knew it, I was feeling kind of down. I just let myself drift at the edge of the pool, letting the water hold me up.
Edward swam over and asked, his voice gentle, โHey, whatโs up? Getting tired?โ
โNo, Iโm fine. I want to swim a little longer,โ I said. It was so peaceful here, the water crystal clearโit really helped me relax.
I wiped the water off my face, thinking, โIโm still not tough enough inside. I really need to toughen up.โ
Guys like Edward? Most people go their whole lives without ever meeting someone like him. Some folks wouldnโt even believe someone this flawless could actually be real.
โWhy am I even getting all emo about this? Just do it. No more overthinking,โ I told myself.
I kept swimming for a bit, but soon I was running out of steam. Turning to Edward, I said, โIโm getting tiredโฆ Can we get something to eat?โ
Edward led me to the changing room, and to my surprise, there was actually a coupleโs suite in there. I honestly hadnโt expected that.
When Edward brought me inside, I kept watching him, waiting to see if heโd step out. But he didnโt even look like he was going to leaveโhe just turned on the shower and started rinsing off right there.
โWhatโs wrong? Arenโt you hungry?โ Edward asked with a smile, his deep voice echoing in the quiet room. It sounded really nice.
Feeling mischievous, I teased, โWho says my hunger is just for food?โ
Edward froze mid-shower, his gaze suddenly smoldering as he shot me a meaningful grin. โOh? Is that one of your cravings you want me to take care of?โ
Without another word, he reached over to turn up the water temperatureโand in the next second, he pulled me right over to him.
The hot water hit me, making me shudder, and the slick heat of our bodies pressed together sent a shock straight through me.
Before I could even get a word out, Edward was already lowering his head, capturing my lips in a kiss.
My mind went completely blankโmy body took over, responding before I even knew what was happening.
In the cramped changing room, the air seemed to get hotter by the second.
โWaitโฆ what if someoneโs watching us? Like, what if thereโs a hidden camera?โ I grabbed his arm, not really wanting to go any further.
Edward let out a low laugh. โRelax. My bodyguards arenโt just for showโtheyโve already swept this place for bugs and cameras.โ
I froze for a moment, but the next second, he pulled me in, responding with even more heat.
I still couldnโt shake off my worries, but the sound of the water and his low, coaxing whispers tangled together, messing with my head until I couldnโt hold myself back anymore.
In that tiny little space, where we could barely even turn around, we somehow managed to try all kinds of things. By the time we finally stumbled out, my mind was still spinning, my cheeks burning hot, like the heat from before just wouldnโt go away. I couldnโt even look him in the eyeโafraid Iโd see a stranger staring back at me.
At dinner, Edward looked me over with a teasing grin. โWhy are your cheeks so red? Still not had enough, huh?โ
I shot him a mock-annoyed look, and he just laughed, looking absolutely delighted.
Dinner was served beneath the stars, with a single pane of glass stretched overhead so we could see the whole glittering sky above us. The vastness of it all made everything feel a little fated, like the universe was watching over usโand under that endless galaxy, I couldnโt help but want to imagine a brand new story for the two of us.
โAfter dinner, letโs wander around a bit. Weโll spend the night here,โ Edward murmured.
I nodded, watching as one fresh dish after another appeared on the tableโeach one felt like opening a surprise box, so addictive I couldnโt help but crave more.
Edward swirled his wine with that natural air of superiority, every move exuding the kind of effortless class only he could pull off. He seemed to be holding back, thoughโmaybe just being polite, or maybe he was simply over all this gourmet food, having tasted it a thousand times before.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen, and his expression darkened. โItโs Ryan.โ
My hand trembled around my fork, and I snapped my gaze to him.
