Chapter 913
Lily considered calling Alexander again. "Your aunt refuses to leave unless she meets one of us," she said. She wasn't complaining, nor was she afraid to meet his family or become involved in their business; she simply sensed Alexander had a good reason for keeping her away from his aunt. His secretiveness whenever his family was mentioned suggested he was hiding something.
Alexander was silent for a moment, frowning. Then, "Just pretend you have no idea she's there. Let her wait. She has nothing better to do!"
"Alright," Lily replied, picking up on the unhappiness in his voice. "Don't worry about me. Olivia's here, so I'm fine. You can work peacefully. I'm sure your aunt will get bored and leave." Alexander hummed, eliciting laughter from Lily.
"Tsk, behave!" she teased.
Gasps sounded from both ends of the line. Alexander, unprepared for her playful banter, felt an immediate urge to return home. Olivia, meanwhile, watched the burgeoning flirtation with a distinctly green hue.
"Wait for me!" Alexander growled before disconnecting. His mood, however, had clearly improved.
"Wow, you're amazing! Why don't I remember you being this good?" Olivia exclaimed. Lily had always been focused on her work. Even with Nathaniel, she hadn't been this openly affectionate. Olivia reflected that she'd previously considered Lily indifferent. Who knew it was simply a matter of finding the right person? Now, Lily could easily flirt with Alexander and show her affection openly. Perhaps this was what finding the right person felt like.
Outside, Celine sat in her car, waiting at the gate. Gaining entry proved more difficult than anticipated. Even if she hadn't, Alexander's eventual return would force him to let her in. Thus, she patiently waited. Impatience, however, quickly bubbled to the surface. "How rude! How dare she make an elder wait outside? Did she expect me to believe her 'sick and asleep' excuse? That woman is cocky before marrying into the family! God knows what will happen when she's actually Alexander's wife!" Alexander wasn't exempt from her criticism. His private marriage, without informing his mother, demonstrated a lack of respect for elders. If this continued, how could he possibly live with the Russell family?
