Chapter 912
"Send her away!" he said bluntly.
Lily was shocked. Although she suspected Alexander didn't know about Celine's visit, she hadn't anticipated such a blunt dismissal. "About that..."
"Since she hasn't seen you, just send her away. You don't need to meet her."
"But the maid said she brought many things. Perhaps she came to congratulate us." She hadn't expected such hostility toward his aunt.
"Congratulate us? Please, she's a wolf in sheep's clothing!" Alexander snorted. "Don't worry about it. Just have a maid tell her you're sick and asleep. Have her come back another day."
"Oh, okay then." He must have his reasons, so Lily nodded. "Then, I'll do just that."
"Alright."
After ending the call, Lily instructed a maid to send Celine away, claiming illness and medication. The maid, though puzzled, obeyed. Olivia, observing, was even more confused.
"Is that really his aunt? How could he ask you to send her away like that?!"
Lily realized that despite knowing Alexander for so long, she'd never met his family. She would have assumed he was an only child, unaware the Russells were a large family.
"I'm not sure," Lily shrugged. "All I know is he doesn't have a good relationship with the rest of them."
She didn't dwell on it; she'd done as Alexander asked. It was perhaps fortunate he wasn't entangled in complicated family matters. The Lodge family turmoil had been more than enough.
"Tsk, the world of the rich and powerful is truly complex!" Olivia, seeing it wasn't a major issue, returned to her fruit. "However, this is a good thing. You won't have to worry about in-laws. Those people are the hardest to please."
"You don't have to worry either," Lily said, looking at Olivia.
"Huh?" Olivia was confused.
"Edward's an orphan. Besides Alexander, he only has colleagues. You won't have in-laws to worry about either."
Lily giggled as Olivia blushed, then dodged a flying pillow. "I hate you! You're bullying me again!"
"I'm not! I'm just telling the truth!"
Their laughter was interrupted by a maid. "Madam..."
"What's the matter?" Lily straightened. "Is she gone?"
The maid shook her head. "No, she's still waiting outside. She said she'll wait for you to wake up; she's not in a rush. She said she has all the time in the world!"
Lily was speechless. There was clearly more to Celine's visit than met the eye! Celine had even threatened Lily before entering, vowing not to leave without a meeting. "Gosh, right after I said you wouldn't have to deal with troublesome in-laws, his aunt arrives to prove me wrong."
Most people would have left after hearing it was an inconvenient time. But Celine chose to wait at the gate. What could be so important that she'd waste Lily's time like this? And to claim she had all the time in the world to wait!
