Chapter 890

"He's in control, my ass!" Joseph snorted. "Tanner Corporation has been around for years. There's no way every employee would take him seriously, especially the old-timers. Once I give my orders at the right time, I can still reclaim the company!"

Elizabeth brightened, but her conviction wavered. "Are you sure? You've failed to seize Tanner Corporation for years. How can you get it back now it's in his hands?"

"It's different now. My brother was still around back then."

"But your brother isn't now?"

"He's missing, probably kidnapped by Nathaniel. Yes, we have to report this to the police!" His confidence surged. "Damian, get ready to go to the police station. Wait, no, we should plan what we'll say first."

Elizabeth, noticing Joseph's manic expression, asked worriedly, "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine! I just had an idea. Damian, tell the police you were kidnapped and didn't report it because he threatened you. Then, tell them your uncle and his family are also missing, probably kidnapped by Nathaniel. Oh, yes, blame Benedict's death on Nathaniel too. That'll nail him!" He laughed maniacally, already envisioning success.

Damian, having endured much, grew timid. "We have no proof. Will the police believe me?"

"Once you report it, they have to investigate. Besides, you're the victim; they'll base the investigation on your statement. At the very least, it'll keep him busy and buy us time."

Joseph rubbed his hands excitedly.

"Then won't the police keep Damian at the station again? Making a statement is difficult; he suffered last time!" Elizabeth protested, protectively enveloping her son.

Joseph considered this. "No, he's just making a report and recording his statement. He's not a suspect. I'll get the lawyer to accompany you both." Elizabeth nodded, relieved. "Okay, it's better if the lawyer is present."

Damian remained silent during his parents' discussion. Joseph frowned. "Damian, do you disagree?"

Damian offered a wry grin. "No, Dadโ€ฆ butโ€ฆ" He rose and moved to the window, pointing downstairs. "Do you think we can even get to the police station?"

Joseph followed his gaze. Initially, nothing seemed amiss, but closer inspection revealed shady spots under the trees and strategically parked cars. He recalled Nathaniel's warning, initially dismissed as a scare tactic. Now, seeing Damian's point, Joseph doubted Nathaniel would let them reach the police so easily.

"I need to thinkโ€ฆ" Joseph lit a cigarette, a frown etching his face.
