"Okay. I trust you, too!" Joseph nodded.

"Think about it carefully," Damian said. "Did she hold a grudge against you because of a mistake during your endorsement discussion? Did you refuse some of her requirements, or was she dissatisfied with the fee?"

Joseph pondered this. Could a problem during their discussion, dismissed as insignificant at the time, be the cause? Could they be retaliating? He recalled the meeting and shook his head. "No," he said. "It was a pleasant discussion. She didn't mention the fee and readily agreed to be our model. The shoot went smoothly; she made no requests and cooperated well."

Since everything had gone so well, Damian hadn't given it a second thought, much less anticipated the disastrous consequences.

"That's weird," Elizabeth said, straightening up from where she'd been listening.

"I know!"

"You know?" Joseph was skeptical. "Tell us what you know, then."

"I know why Naomi did this!" She glared at Joseph and pointed. "It's because of you!"

"Me?" Joseph was confused.

"Stop messing around!"

"I'm not messing around! It's because of you!"

Elizabeth explained, "Think about Naomi's job. She's a model. What kind of people are models?"

Joseph, impatient, said, "Models are models. What are you getting at? Just get to the point!"

"Hmph!" She rolled her eyes. "Models are part of the entertainment industry, idiot!"

"What does that have to do with me?"

"Everything! Think about that woman in your house—Eloise. What was her occupation? She's from that circle; maybe they knew each other and conspired to frame Damian!"

Perhaps Elizabeth's thinking was unconventional. Unaware of Nathaniel and Arianna's involvement, she'd pieced together a half-truth by chance, wrongly blaming Eloise. She was convinced of Eloise's involvement, but her evidence was purely circumstantial.

Joseph slammed his palm on the table. "Elizabeth, that's enough! This isn't about jealousy! How can you blame her? This has absolutely nothing to do with her!"

Joseph refused to believe Eloise was involved. First, she'd retired from the industry long ago. Even if she knew current celebrities or models, why would they risk collaborating with her? People in the entertainment industry were pragmatic. Second, after all their years together, he knew his wife wouldn't betray him.
