Chapter 714

Lily yawned. She had never felt so tired. Alexander had told her not to go to bed yet, so she got up, took out the hair dryer, and began drying her hair. She hadn't had this habit while living with the Lodge family. To make things easier during kickboxing practice, and because most people at home were men who didn't know how to manage long hair, she had always kept her hair short. After starting university, she let it grow. Nathaniel had told her he loved girls with long hair, so she stopped cutting it. Before she knew it, her hair was very long.

After she and Alexander became a couple, he always dried her hair for her, ensuring she didn't go to bed with wet hair. She realized that someone who loves you doesn't worry about your hairstyle; they protect you from harm.

When Alexander came out of the bathroom, he saw a beautiful scene: Lily sitting at the dressing table, her head tilted, one hand holding the hair dryer, gently combing her smooth, fluffy hair with her fingers. When the dryer blew a strand of hair onto her face, Alexander could almost smell the gentle fragrance of her shampoo. The scene was breathtaking! Any ill feelings from their earlier argument vanished, and he could only adore his wife. He walked over and took the hair dryer. "Let me help," he said.

Lily didn't refuse. She handed him the dryer and let him finish drying her hair.

"I feel like getting a haircut," she said suddenly.

"Why so sudden?" he asked casually. "If you prefer it shorter, why not?"

Lily smiled. "My hair's getting too long. It's too much trouble to wash and dry. I want a haircut to make it easier to manage."

"If that's the only reason, I can help with washing and drying." It was no big deal; he actually enjoyed doing it.

"It's not just that," she said thoughtfully. "My hair gets in the way during experiments. I can wear a cap, but I think shorter hair would be better."

Lily's mention of experiments reminded Alexander of the earlier incident. "Was that what you were referring to? You went straight to the lab when we returned to Brown City."

"Yeah," she nodded. "Since we decided to give the public an explanation at the press conference, we needed proof. I planned to show them a sampleโ€”our strongest proof. I'd estimated enough time, but there was a severe traffic jam." She'd never used that road during peak hours and hadn't anticipated the congestion.

"I have another question," Alexander said after a moment.

"What?" Lily asked, but couldn't hear him clearly over the hair dryer.

Alexander stroked her head, ensuring her hair was mostly dry before stopping and unplugging the dryer. He moved in front of her. "I said I have another question."

"What is it?"

"You told the media the only addition was some sleep-aid herbs, specifically for your grandfather. Of course, I believe you, but" He paused, choosing his words carefully so she wouldn't misunderstand his questioning.

"Don't worry. Be honest with me," Lily reassured him.

"If I remember correctly, you told Henry that if you wanted to poison someone, you could do it anytime. And at that moment, he did look like he'd taken something wrong. So, were you"
