Chapter 590

As expected, Alexander shook his head. "He went to so much trouble to trick you into coming here. It's undoubtedly not for something as simple as a challenge."

It would make sense if Noah were responsible. With his status and position as director of the Perfumers' Society, forging the seal would be easy. However, the Perfumers' Society itself disapproved of his invitation; he acted out of selfish motives. No one could blame others for not realizing it at the time.

"Then let's see what he's up to," Lily murmured, showing no fear.

"Aren't you scared?" Alexander gazed into her eyes. The night sky cast a different beauty upon her, making him reluctant to let her go.

"Why would I be?" Lily replied, a touch of disapproval in her voice before she laughed. "As you said, he went to so much trouble to deceive me, and it won't be a simple challenge, nor an attempt to kill me. So why be afraid? I'm simply waiting to see his next move. It's as simple as observing and counterattacking. What's the point of fear?"

With a barely audible sigh, Alexander loosened his grip. "Sometimes I feel you're too strong."

"You're wrong. I'm not strong alone! I'm only this way because of your support." Lily smiled, poking his chest. "You're here, so I'm not scared anymore!"

She might have been slightly anxious earlier, but seeing him calmed her. Alexander had come as soon as he sensed her danger. What else would she fear? With him, she had nothing to fear.

Holding her hand, he said in a low voice, "You don't know what you're doing."

"What can you do to me..."

Before she finished, Alexander kissed her. Though only two days had passed, it felt like years since they last saw each other. He would have embraced her immediately upon seeing her, if not for his concern for her safety.

"I'll be heading back," Lily said, glancing towards the building, her tone slightly anxious. If they continued, it would be dawn before they finished.

Alexander stopped her departure by grasping her wrist, pulling her close and resting his head on her neck.

"Stop it!" Lily gently pushed him, her voice trembling slightly. "I need to go. I have a feeling he'll look for me." Noah hadn't appeared yesterday, but he already knew Lily had slipped away at night, proving this place couldn't restrain her. If he had ulterior motives, he would surely return.

Alexander, sensing her apprehension, looked up at her, helping her tidy her clothes. "Be careful. Know your limits. I'm already having my people remove the signal jammer. Call me if you need me."

"Okay," Lily replied, surprised by his quick action. Nodding, she said, "I'll be going now."

Though she said this, she was hesitant to leave.
