Chapter 58
The lawyer didn't expect Lily to choose the impossible option so readily. Stunned, he immediately added, "Ms. Christian, I don't think you understood. You may be underestimating the severity and potential impact on your future. This won't be a simple apology if you lose. You'll face significant compensation and possibly jail time. Therefore, I advise you to reconsider, as Mr. Hall is only requesting an apology"
"Tell Nathaniel to stop daydreaming, or he'll turn into an idiot!" Lily interrupted. "You said that's if I lose, but I won't. See you in court!"
She hung up. How ridiculous! Was Nathaniel so confident he could defeat her with those flimsy materials and so-called witnesses?
Sheโd remained in the shadows, willingly a stepping stone for his advancement. Now, she would fight back, vowing never to be so pathetic again. Lily drove home, unexpectedly finding Alexander already there. She'd expected him at the company.
Heโd clearly just arrived. His suit and tie were off, but he still wore his work shirt, the top button undone, revealing his Adam's apple. He lay on the sofa, frowning at his tablet.
"How come you're home so early?" Lily bent to change her shoes, slipping into her slippers. "Have you had dinner? I'll cook something."
She started for the kitchen, but Alexander stopped her. "Not now. Come here."
Lily turned. Sheโd already rolled up her sleeves, but seeing his unhappy expression, she returned to him. "What's wrong? Problem at the company?"
"How could I have a problem I couldn't solve?" Alexander's gaze conveyed his displeasure.
Heโd faced numerous challenges since taking over La Beautรฉ Group, but none insurmountable. Solvable issues weren't a concern; he had the capital, confidence, and pride to assert this. Lily chuckled, sitting beside him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Yes, that's right. My boss is the greatest! Nothing can defeat you!" she said playfully.
Their proximity intensified. Seeing her smile, Alexander's eyes darkened.
He leaned closer, almost touching her lips. "Really? Howโฆ great?" His breath on her face made Lily blush. "H-how would I know?" she stammered, trying to pull away.
"You don't know? How can you call me great and not know? Do you want me to prove it to you?"
She offered no resistance as she fell into his arms.
He hugged her waist, holding her firmly. "Is your inconvenience over?"
Lily wished she could disappear. His meaning was clear, and it was still daytime. She didn't know where to look.
"N-not yet," she stuttered.
His soft sigh warmed her further. "What were you looking at?"
"Just some boring stuff," Alexander replied, idly attempting to put away his tablet. But Lily had already read the screen.
