"Tanny, are you sure you want to do this? Didn't you say he wouldn't give in to threats?" Arianna asked softly.

"You're right, he wouldn't. But he has strict principles," Brittany replied, her gaze distant and grim. "I've known him for years. He's self-controlled, never involved in scandals. I know it's not just about me; he wouldn't allow himself to make such a mistake. That's why I'm sure he'll take responsibility if we sleep together!"

Her deep understanding of Alexander fueled her plan, exploiting what she believed to be his character flaws. She knew, regardless of the outcome, her relationship with Alexander would irrevocably change. But she was willing to gamble.

"Sure, he might take responsibility, but what then? What if he finds out you manipulated him?" Arianna countered. "Aren't you afraid he'll despise you?"

"I am!" Brittany gasped, trembling at the thought. "But I have to do this! Ari, the worst isn't his hatred; it's him not caring at all. My biggest fear is him forgetting me. I'd rather he hated me—at least then he'd remember."

Arianna stared at Brittany, sighing. "Okay, then. I'll support you. I hope your dreams come true."

"Thanks for always being there," Brittany said sincerely, clutching Arianna's shoulders. "You're my best friend! Oh, and don't forget the paparazzi. Have them release the news at 9:30 p.m. I want everything perfect!"

"Don't worry," Arianna reassured her. "This is all I can do. The rest is up to you."

After a pause, Arianna asked, "Are you sure Alexander will be alone? Won't he bring that other woman?"

Brittany shook her head. "He hasn't brought her to any public events. She won't be at the event; in fact, she won't be in Sapphine."

"You're going to kidnap her?" Arianna gasped.

Brittany glared. "I considered it, but there are other ways to make someone leave. Kidnapping isn't necessary. Anyway, you just need to help spread the news that day. I don't want to burden you if things go wrong," Brittany added, determined. She'd been anxious, but now she was fully committed.

Arianna simply said, "Remember, those drugs are potent. Don't use too much, or it won't work as planned."

"I know," Brittany replied, her voice firm despite her trembling fingers clutching the bottle.

Once, she'd wanted Alexander's love; now, she craved his possession. The thought of the news release, of the A-list actress and business magnate being publicly linked, made her heart pound. I wonder how that woman will react when she hears the news from Kingsland. Does she think she can keep Alex forever? Who does she think she is?
