Chapter 517
Lily recalled Alexander's words when she mentioned this. He had said he'd never had a girlfriend before. She couldn't help but smile. "That's not possible."
"Why not?! You didn't see how vicious that woman was," Olivia said, stepping forward and gesturing as if holding a purse. Raising her eyebrows, she imitated Arianna's arrogance. "Let me warn you, break up with him immediately. Not just any woman can marry into the Russell family. Do you honestly think you succeeded in marrying rich? Name your price. How much do you want in exchange for leaving him? Would one million dollars be enough?"
Olivia exaggerated Brittany's words in a high-pitched, bossy voice, making Lily laugh out loud. "That's enough! Do you want me to die laughing?"
"It's true!" Olivia stomped her foot when she saw Lily's disbelief. "Oh, that's right! This stomping action was also hers, not mine!" she continued. "I've seen a lot of women like you. What you want is money, right? How much do you want? Three or four hundred million dollars? Are you crazy?!" She vividly imitated the woman, shaking her head and gesturing "no" with her fingers.
Lily, supporting herself on the table, doubled over with laughter.
"Hahaha!" Jenny laughed, her arrival unnoticed. She'd clearly heard Olivia's imitation.
"Ms. Gray!" Olivia quickly straightened up, stopping her act.
"Why are you putting on a show instead of working? Do you want to be an actor?" Jenny coughed lightly, then walked in with a straight face. Olivia pouted. "I don't have the looks, even if I wanted to be an actor."
She was self-conscious, aware she was an ordinary girl. Average-looking, she seemed mediocre compared to the beautiful Lily. Ms. Oakley, whom she'd met yesterday, was pretty, but too arrogant and annoying.
Oh wellโฆ she admitted it: she wasn't good-looking. She was ugly!
"You really want to be an actor?!" Jenny set down what she was carrying. "No, no. I'm just kidding!" Olivia peeked at the items. "What did you bring, Ms. Gray?"
"This is information! What else do you think it is? Should I bring you some snacks instead?" Jenny said half-jokingly.
"Sureโฆ no, no need!" Olivia hesitated, then shook her head. She knew Jenny was teasing her. "I wanted to ask what information this is."
Jenny didn't answer but indicated to Lily, "You should ask your manager."
Lily explained, "I'm working on new types of Southbank soaps. I keep feeling something's amiss but can't pinpoint it. That's why I asked Jenny to bring all the information about Southbank soap. I want to look at it for ideas."
Jenny continued, "I was worried you'd be too busy. All's good now that you're back from leave. Lily has been really busy recently due to your absence!" She remembered something. "Oh right, the higher-ups said you can have two assistants. You should spare some time and select a new helper."
"There's no need," Lily said, flipping through the information. "I have enough people, with Liv here now. Having more assistants isn't necessarily better in perfumery. Too many cooks spoil the broth."
"Fine!" Jenny didn't press. She put a hand on Olivia's shoulder and leaned in, smiling meaningfully. "Then again, Liv won't be staying here for very long. By then, you'll still have to find new assistants."
"Huh, why?" Lily looked at Olivia in surprise. "Are you changing companies?"
Olivia shook her head in confusion. "No!"
Jenny continued, without giving them a chance to respond, "It's not changing companies. However, you'll become a rich man's wife after you marry Mr. Russell. Can you still work as a mere assistant? Way to go, girl! You hide it really well!"
