Chapter 46

Olivia, however, was unmoved by his threat. She paused, slowly turning. His angry face made her chuckle.

"Do as you wish, Mr. Hall!" she said. "From now on, I choose when and what time I work. Penalize me for being late or absentโ€”go ahead!" She opened the door and left.

Melanie stared at the empty doorway in disbelief. "You're letting her go just like that?" she exclaimed, turning to Nathaniel. "She's going to tell the press! How could you let her leave?"

His expression darkened. "What else could I have done? We're in the company building! Do you think I could lock her up? Numerous people saw her enter my office!"

Melanie bit her lip anxiously. "What should we do now? Many people doubt her these days. The reputation I worked so hard to build is ruined. I could kill Lily!"

None of them understood Lily's sudden change. She had been obedient for years, then abruptly turned against them. Nathaniel pressed his hands on the table, his head bowed, fingers curled into fists. His veins bulged, his knuckles cracked from the exertion.

He slammed his fist on the table. "We have to act decisively!" he roared, his gaze hardening with determination. "Get our lawyers here immediately. I'm going to sue her. Also, contact some university classmates."

Melanie blinked, confused. "Why contact our classmates now? Are you planning a reunion?"

"No," she continued. "You don't intend to use them to persuade Lily, do you? She didn't get along with many people back then. Why would she listen to them now?"

She shook her head, thinking him unrealistic.

He looked at her helplessly. "What are you talking about? Contact them, especially those we were close to. You can find their contact information. It's crucial, and it needs to be done immediately!"

He thought, I can't prolong this! Lily, since you insist on this, don't blame me for being ruthless. You forced me into this dead end!

"Achoo!"

The bright sun almost blinded Lily. She scrunched her nose, sneezing loudly. A tissue appeared, covering her nose. Blushing, she reached for it, but he'd already moved. He gently wiped her nose, crumpled the tissue, and discarded it. She was speechless. She wasn't a neat freak, but it made her uncomfortable. Nobody would expect Alexander, the CEO of La Beautรฉ Group, to help a woman blow her nose.

Her cheeks still warm, he had naturally circled his arm around her waist. "How was your first day?" he asked.
