Chapter 385

It was Lily's first time making Alexander angry. He fumed all night, saying nothing to her. Although he didn't lash out or otherwise display his anger, she sensed his displeasure.

"Is he mad because he thinks I'm jealous, or because I'm not?" Lily mused, lacking relationship experience. During her relationship with Nathaniel, she'd never felt jealousy. She focused on their future and considered Melanie a mutual friend, never suspecting anything between Nathaniel and Melanie. Nathaniel's affair left her feeling betrayed, used, and lied to—more angry than upset. Jealousy, however, played no part in her feelings. She wondered if Alexander wanted her to be jealous, or the opposite. Since he denied any involvement with Brittany, she saw no reason to be jealous.

Before she could ponder this further, Lisa called.

"Lily, are you back already?"

"Not yet. My flight's tomorrow."

Lily had just finished washing up. Emerging from the bathroom, she found Alexander asleep. She dressed and went to the living room to take the call.

"That's great! Are you free for a meal today?" Lisa asked apologetically. "I feel so guilty about you being kidnapped because of me. I wanted to apologize, but haven't had the chance. Please let me."

Lily reassured her, "It wasn't your fault. The kidnappers pretended to be your subordinates. Don't feel guilty. As for a meal…"

Subconsciously glancing toward the bedroom, she wondered about Alexander's plans.

"You have to have a meal with me! Lunch or dinner—I'll be waiting!" Lisa insisted, then added, "Oh, Mr. Corden will be there, too!"

"Mr. Corden? You know Mr. Corden?" Lily was surprised. She immediately thought of the Marseille soap salesman.

Lisa was taken aback. "What do you mean? We met him at the hospital! And you met him through me. You saved his son, and he wants to thank you, so you have to come."

Lily finally remembered the man from the hospital, whose name she'd forgotten after their single meeting.

"We don't…" she began, intending to decline, but Lisa hung up, leaving no room for refusal.

"Do you have plans?"

A voice startled Lily, causing her to whirl around. Alexander leaned against the doorframe, his gaze lazily sweeping over her. His captivating presence was undeniable.

Lily was momentarily stunned. Though not her first time seeing him undressed, or sharing a bed, his beauty still captivated her.

"When is it?" he asked, straightening as he approached.

Lily patted her cheeks, regaining her composure. "I thought you weren't talking to me!"

Alexander hugged her. "Why wouldn't I talk to you?"

Lily rolled her eyes, speechless. "Yeah, why wouldn't you?"
