Chapter 29

Rumors painted Alexander as cold-blooded, ruthless, and cruel. No one would have expected him to be gentle and considerate.

The water was the perfect temperature, so Lily comfortably enjoyed a hot bath and changed into fresh clothes and undergarments. The discomfort of her menstrual cramps subsided considerably, bringing relief.

Alexander was right; Lily didn't need to rush and should rest first. She took a nap while Alexander hugged her, falling asleep and feeling safe and secure. They simply cuddled, and Lily found a newfound peace.

She napped for over an hour and woke to countless missed calls on her phoneโ€”all from Nathaniel, who sounded distressed, a stark contrast to Lily's calm.

She slowly changed into a simple white dress. It lacked unique details or designs, but it flattered her figure, giving her an elegant appearance. Before she left, Alexander circled his arms around her waist, burying his head in her neck and nibbling her skin.

"I don't want to let go of you," he murmured.

"I'm yours, wherever I am," Lily replied. Her words made him hold her tighter as he kissed her passionately. After two more quick kisses, he released her.

"I'll have Edward wait for you. Come back once the press conference is over."

"Okay," Lily nodded before turning to leave.

Lily arrived at the venue just as the impatient Nathaniel ran toward her, scolding, "Where the hell were you?! I called you repeatedly! Why didn't you answer? Are you in contact with Rebirth again? Lily, didn't I make it clear? Do you understand how critical this press conference is?! How dare you!" Lily gave him a cold look, silencing him.

"Let's go in now," she said calmly. They didn't enter immediately. Instead, Nathaniel pulled Lily aside to a walkway. "I've repeatedly told you what to say, so I trust you. After today, MN Inc. will do even better. Lily, listen, you've always been sensible. Everything depends on you today!" Lily listened obediently, a faint smile playing on her lips. However, her silence made Nathaniel anxious. He wanted to say more but felt he'd said everything necessary. Finally, leaning in close, he whispered, his voice barely audible, "I trust you, but don't try anything funny. Don't blame me for the consequences if you don't do as I say." He then looked at her lovingly. To anyone else, it would have seemed like a tender moment.

Lily's smile vanished, replaced by a cold gaze. She turned and headed toward the venue. As she entered, flashing lights blinded her, causing her to squint. Reporters raised their cameras, snapping photos. She composed herself before quickly walking to the stage. A row of tables sat on the stage; several MN Inc. executives occupied seats at either end, leaving three center seats for Nathaniel, Lily, and Melanie.
