Alexander was discussing a plan with Austin and Mike in the living room when he heard a car screech to a halt in his yard. Surprised, though he recognized the vehicle as Dominic's, he asked, "What happened?" Austin glanced at the car. "Why's Uncle Dom back so soon?"
"Let's check it out," Alexander said gravely, rising and heading toward the yard. As the car door opened, he hurried to assist Dominic, only to discover it wasn't the old man who emerged.
"Alex!" Lily looked at her husband softly. Her name was all she could manage.
Alexander stopped, wondering if he was dreaming.
"I'm back," Lily breathed, her intended grin faltering as tears welled in her eyes.
Alexander rushed to embrace her. Feeling her warmth, he knew this was real. Tears welled in his eyes as he whispered, "Y-You're back. You're finally back!"
"I am, baby," Lily smiled, patting his shoulder.
"You're truly homeโฆ" Alexander repeated, overwhelmed.
Austin, following closely, was equally stunned. "Lily?"
Dominic emerged from the car, and Austin rushed to his side. "Uncle Dom, what happened?"
The old man shrugged. "I saw her running toward the car; I just brought her back. I don't know what happened either. Whatever it was, I'm glad she's back." Dominic sighed with relief, watching the couple embrace.
Meanwhile, Mike stood alone, his fists clenched.
Lily saw Mike and patted Alexander's shoulder. "Hey, let's talk inside."
Alexander held her close one last time, inhaling her scent before releasing her. Though he'd tried to compose himself, Lily saw his tears; it was unexpected. It had been the most difficult period of their marriage. Never before had they been separated for so long, or experienced such despair. They'd even feared they'd never see each other again.
As they walked toward the house, Lily greeted Mike. He casually asked, "Are they still holding Nicky hostage?" He'd assumed so, seeing only Lily and Dominic exit the car.
