Chapter 23
On her way to the bathroom, Lily passed several rooms. Coincidentally, someone emerged from one. As the door closed behind the person, Lily saw a familiar face. Though only for a moment, she was sure it was him. She continued to the bathroom. After washing and drying her hands, she exited. A tall figure leaned against the wall outside, waiting for her.
"I was right," Justin exclaimed, straightening.
Lily smiled. "You've always had sharp eyesight. Now, could you please excuse me?"
Justin blocked her path. "Why are you here?"
Lily smirked. "For the same reason you are. Is this hotel one of your properties? Am I not welcome?"
Justin frowned, unhappy with her tone. "You still refuse to return to the Lodge family?"
"The Lodge family, huh? I'll return someday, but not now," she said.
"When is the right time?" Justin asked.
Seeing she wouldn't answer, he continued coldly, "I've heard about your case. You didn't handle it well, but luckily, you didn't cause the family any trouble. Since you refuse to come home, mind your behavior. You're still part of the Lodge family, and we can't have you embarrassing us."
Lily looked at him with cold eyes, brushed past him, and waved without turning back. "Rest assured, I have nothing to do with the Lodge family!"
Justin watched her go for a few seconds before leaving, his eyes narrowed.
Jenny and Olivia were surprised to find Lily was the one who'd overindulged. After returning from the bathroom, she ordered more beerโseveral pintsโand two bottles of red wine. She even tried to order white wine, but the others stopped her.
According to Lily, this was her first successful product launch at Rebirth. It was significant, and she wanted to celebrate. What started as a few glasses quickly escalated to several bottles. By the time they were ready to leave, Lily was extremely intoxicated.
Jenny gently patted Lily's face. "Lily, where do you live?" She needed Lily's address to get her a cab. Given Lily's condition, simply giving her the address wouldn't suffice; she needed to ensure Lily got home safely.
"I-Impewial W-Wills" Jenny couldn't understand. She frowned and looked at Olivia.
Jenny leaned closer. "What was that?"
"I-Imperial H-Hills." This time it was clear, but unbelievable. "What? Imperial Hills?! Do you know where that is? How can you afford to live there? Are you a secret millionaire? You're scaring me!" Jenny was stunned.
Olivia quickly realized Lily had given Jenny Alexander's address. Imperial Hills was a high-class residential area; its residents belonged to a different social stratum. A working-class adult couldn't afford, let alone rent, a place there. The price was astronomical.
Jenny's shock was understandable, as she didn't know Lily's boyfriend. Since Olivia had promised to keep Lily's secret, she intervened. "Jenny, I know where she lives. I'll take her home. It's late, and you have work tomorrow; you should go."
