Chapter 231

"Cheers!" The atmosphere in the small room was celebratory, despite only three people being present. Excitement filled the air.

"Never would I have imagined your success in such a short time! I'm pleasantly surprised!" Jenny exclaimed. She had already seen the successful samples that morning. The girls had given her a sample to try the previous day, and its amazing scent had impressed her. "It's a wonderful fragrance!"

"We told you the formula was a success," Olivia clarified, eating. "Honestly, this is nothing. Lily could develop a new fragrance and finish it within a month!"

"Really? Within a month! That means countless new perfumes a year!" Jenny was thrilled by the sheer volume of products Lily could produce. Moreover, having witnessed Lily's capabilities, she had no concerns about the quality.

"Now, that's not entirely true," Lily said, turning to Jenny and joking. "Without inspiration and a clear vision, it would take me over three months to develop a good idea. Hopefully, you won't fire me!" Jenny laughed.

"I wish I had that kind of ability! Remember when you first came to Rebirthโ€ฆ," Jenny paused, looking at Olivia. "You weren't here yet, so you wouldn't know. When Lily first joined, I didn't want her on my team. I almost argued with Mr. Will, but it changed nothing! I suspected she had connections within the company. I was certain of it!" She slammed her hand on the table.

Olivia glanced at Lily playfully and thought, Well, Jenny's right. Lily does have a connectionโ€”an unbelievable one!

Olivia smiled wickedly. "So, who was Lily's connection?" she prompted.

Jenny turned to Lily, pouting. "Turns out, she had no connections! Since I couldn't get rid of her, I gave her difficult problems to solve. I thought she'd quit! But she proved me wrong. I knew then that her skill alone would keep her here, regardless of connections. She's a talented perfumer. Honestly, I'm not worried about you leaving. I believe you'll someday be a legend in this industry!"

Lily thanked her calmly. "You're too kind!"

"I'm serious! Don't forget to help us out when you reach that status. Don't forget us!" Jenny said, downing another glass. She was becoming slightly inebriated and slurring her words.

"Jenny, I think you're drunk," Olivia said, steadying her.

"Drunk? No, I'm not! I'm a heavy drinker! This is nothing! When I'm on a business trip, Iโ€”" Jenny stopped abruptly, covering her mouth. She looked nauseous.

"Jenny, are you okay? Shouldn't we go?" Olivia assessed her condition.

"Leave? It's too early! This is a rare chance to chat!" Jenny patted Lily's hand, then Olivia's, pulling them closer. "I like you two. Everyone at the office is afraid of me. They see me as a monster who piles on work and stress. But that's not my intention. To survive in this industry, you have to be tough. The competition is fierce; you'll be eliminated if you can't handle it!"
