Even after nudging her with his cane, Lily remained still. Alarmed, Fred realized the cane's slightly sharp tip should have stung her. He shook her, shouting, "Lily?! Lily!" Recognizing she wasn't faking it—she might be asleep or dead—he yelled, "Get me a doctor, stat!"

Guards outside quickly summoned several doctors. They anxiously gathered as Fred, flustered despite himself, pointed to Lily in the bed. He couldn't afford to lose her; he still needed her body to test R10.

It would be such a pity if she dies now. All my efforts would go to waste. No, I can't let her die now! he thought.

He grabbed a doctor's collar, shouting, "You must save her!"

Knowing Fred's temper, the doctor nervously replied, "She's not dead yet, Your Grace! She's just passed out. However, her readings are worsening..."

Fred impatiently pulled him closer. "So?"

"This is a bad sign. Lily could be dying..." The doctor reluctantly admitted what he feared.

"She's dying?" Fred stared at Lily in disbelief. Why would he say that? She's still breathing, isn't she?

"She was fine two days ago. Why is she dying now?" he pressed, unconvinced. "What's wrong with her?"

The doctor's teeth chattered as he stammered, "I-I have no idea. However, the readings show her blood pressure and heart rate are abnormal. Her heartbeat, especially, is so slow that it looks like it's about to stop at any time. There's no doubt she's dying!" He was afraid, but he had to tell the truth; otherwise, Fred might kill him if Lily died.

"Her heartbeat is stopping?" Fred released the doctor and examined the heart rate monitor. Indeed, it was dangerously slow.

"Why is it so slow? Can't you just give her some stimulation?" he suggested.

The doctor shook his head. "We can't! If we do, she might not be able to take it. Besides, she's in a coma!"

How do I stimulate someone still in a coma? he wondered.
