The trio exchanged glances, particularly as Dr. Blancโs severe tone and the production of two documents heightened the tension. Although they hadn't discussed it in two days, they'd concluded Rhea couldn't have become invisibleโshe must have used other means. To their astonishment, Dr. Blanc had proof of an invisibility potion. The world would be thrown into chaos if Rhea had invented such a thing; the resulting scramble for the potion would cause endless problems.
"T-That's impossible, right?" Mike stammered. "Can such a thing even exist?"
"While it sounds ridiculous, nothing is impossible," Dr. Blanc replied. "Science constantly evolves our understanding of the world. We have medications that accelerate cell division and growth, drugs that manipulate the mind. Substances can be passed between people, causing illness or death. Invisibility, growth acceleration, teleportation, even time travel and immortalityโnothing is impossible. At least, that's what our lab equipment suggests. What else could it be if not an invisibility potion?"
Austin narrowed his eyes as he read the documents, shaking his head and frowning before looking from Dr. Blanc to Alexander. "What do you think?" he asked thoughtfully.
"I think Dr. Blanc is right. Perhaps nothing is impossible. We shouldn't dismiss something solely because we haven't witnessed it. If Rhea were here, we could ask her," Alexander mused. "If this potion is real, it could be incredibly useful now. We could easily search the embassy for Lily and rescue Mike's son. Unfortunately, we don't have it. If Rhea does, I'd love to try it."
Alexander sighed and looked at Mike. "Mike? Mike?"
Mike blinked, snapping out of his daze. "What?"
"Didn't you notice anything unusual about Rhea when you delivered her meals? Where did she hide the potion? How did we miss it?" Alexander asked.
Mike shook his head. "I have no idea. Nothing seemed unusual. She never looked at or spoke to me. God knows where she kept it."
"It seems she prepared well," Alexander sighed, looking at Dr. Blanc. "So, you came in the middle of the night to tell us this?"
"That's right," Dr. Blanc nodded. "If she has an invisibility potion, finding her will be extremely difficult. She could be anywhere in the city, invisible."
"Sounds fun, doesn't it?" Austin said, half-jokingly.
Alexander's sharp look caused Austin to shrug and sigh. "Okay, I was kidding. But seriously, using it to save people would be ideal."
