If Fabian refused to help, Cameron doubted Maria would. Since Rheaโs staged death had been revealed, Maria would do anything for her, even illegally. Asking Maria for help was pointless; she was still furious with Cameron.
"Dad, if you don't want to see her, I can ask," Anastasia offered, believing her father's hesitation stemmed from concern.
"No, let's not waste time on her," he smiled. "Thank you for your help lately."
"I just passed messages; it wasn't much," Anastasia replied, happy to have assisted in any way. She cherished this increased time spent with her father.
"Dad, do you think Rhea might have sought the person responsible for the research? She always wanted to rejoin the organization, after all," Anastasia mused.
"No," Cameron shook his head. "She has no idea who's behind it."
He silently considered Rhea's attempts to work with Mike to locate the organization, concluding her actions indicated a lack of knowledge. This would explain her embassy visit.
Anastasia wondered about Rhea's whereabouts. Homeless and a fugitive, finding refuge would be difficult. Survival required food and shelter; where could she possibly be?
Suddenly, Cameron's expression changed. "Perhaps you're right," he said to Anastasia, who looked puzzled.
"We assumed Rhea couldn't contact the organization. What if she can?"
Anastasia was confused. "But you said she couldn't."
"Not before, but that might have changed."
"How do you know she knows now?" Anastasia pressed.
"Speculation," Cameron admitted. "But no one considered it. Your suggestion reminded me to remain open-minded."
"So... I helped?" Anastasia asked.
"Yes, of course!" Cameron patted her head. "Drive," he instructed the chauffeur.
After her checkup, Lily waited alone, contemplating the R10 experiment when the door opened.
