Alexander pointed at the map. "These two areas are where the queen works and rests daily. While it would be a safe place to hide someone, I doubt they would do so." He tapped the map gently. "Outside are the reception rooms, where people frequently come and go. Therefore, the most likely places are here and here." He indicated two locations on the map. "This is the storage room, and that's the guard room. However, this is just based on the map. I'm unsure if there are any secret chambers or underground passages. After all, we lack the authority to search the palace."
Mike was shocked. "How on earth do you know all this?"
"I could obtain a general floor plan, but not this level of detailโeach room's function. It's as if you're describing your own home," Mike observed.
Alexander smiled. "Well, some places that seem mysterious and inaccessible may not be."
Mike looked at him hopefully. "I'm counting on you to rescue Nick."
Alexander patted his shoulder confidently. "We'll get them back safely."
After dinner, Lily returned to bed. This was also her way of continuing her protest. The doctor who'd been relaying Alexander's messages hadn't appeared for two days. She wondered if it was due to staff changes or something worse.
Anxiety gnawed at her. Isolated and without communication, she was uncertain about everything. She worried about Alexander, the virus, and Fred's abandoned laboratory. Of course, she also knew the futility of such anxieties; she might die soon.
Lost in thought, she heard the door creak open. Remaining still, she then heard babies crying. Unable to ignore them, she hesitantly turned. Two nurses stood in the doorway, each carrying a baby. The distance made it hard to tell if they were hers, though she felt they were.
They wouldn't usually bring my babies at this hour. What's going on?
She saw the nurses watching her, despite the babies' cries. Lily couldn't bear it any longer and hurried to them. "What the hell are you two doing?"
Leaning closer, she saw it was indeed her children. The twins were crying, and even her usually calm older son wailed.
"What did you do to my children?" she asked anxiously, suspecting the organization's involvement.
