Spoiled by Mr. Russell, Chapter 2089

Mike felt rejuvenated after showering and changing clothes at Alexander's house. The past few months had been a blur of uncertainty and despair; he couldn't comprehend how he'd endured it until now. Even his trip to the embassy had left him confused. His panic at the organization's abduction of his son, his helplessness under their blackmail, and his eventual acceptance of the situation had left him emotionally drained. He'd exhausted every avenue to rescue Nick, almost forgetting what his son's voice sounded like.

Now, with the "boss" dead, Mike's only connection to Nick was severed. He knew his son's location, yet felt paralyzed, utterly useless. He scrolled through photos and secretly stored videos on his phone, a wave of sadness washing over him. After dressing, he left the room and saw Alexander sitting in the living room, Edward beside him, seemingly delivering a report. They both turned as Mike descended the stairs.

"Any new updates?" Mike asked, quickening his pace.

Alexander shook his head. "No significant progress."

Frustration welled up inside Mike. He poured himself some water, then turned back to them. "Are we just going to wait? I feel powerless!" Despair gnawed at him. Heโ€™d sought solutions, but felt increasingly helpless with each passing moment. Even Alex, he thought, seemed at a loss.

Alexander and Edward remained silent.

Mike sighed, frowning. "We know where Lily and Nick are, yet we can't do anything. We can't even threaten them; they're holding our loved ones hostage. Can't our country intervene if they know what's happening?"

"This isn't just a private matter, Mike," Alexander replied. "It involves far more significant issues. You know who we're dealing with."

"Yes, but why are they still holding my son? The blackmail is over. I complied. Why won't they release Nick? Lily is valuable to them, but my son isn't!" Mike's agitation grew. He couldn't understand their continued refusal. The lack of contact intensified his anxiety.

He knew the organization's inhumanity, their callous disregard for human life in their experiments. The thought of Nick subjected to the same fate chilled him. What about Nicky? Are they experimenting on him too? Those deemed worthless are no better than lab rats.

"Mike, calm down," Alexander said gently. "We're all anxious, but there's nothing we can do right now."

"My son has been with them for months! How can you expect me to stay calm?!" Mike yelled, his voice raw with emotion. "Honestly, I don't understand how you aren't as anxious as I am!"
