Listen to this chapter:

Maria initially worried about Cameron being held hostage in the garage, a fear stemming from years of apprehension. However, she had grown accustomed to it. "So what if he's a member of the cabinet? No one will ever know Rhea is keeping him here."

Although uneasy, Maria was glad her daughter was still alive. She shut the garage door, pushing it firmly to ensure it was securely locked before heading to the front yard.

Alexander, observing from a car across the street, shifted in his seat. The driver looked over his shoulder. "Mr. Russell?"

Alexander narrowed his eyes. "Not yet."

He had been waiting over three hours, witnessing Rhea and Mike's comings and goings before Maria locked the garage. He knew they were hiding something. As night fell and the surroundings grew quiet, Alexander checked the time. "Now!"

Several men moved swiftly and silently toward the garage, their approach almost undetectable. They reached the door, but it wouldn't open.

Alexander frowned. "Go help them!"

The driver hesitated. "But..."

"You think I can't fend for myself?" Alexander's gaze was casual. "Did Burnwken make you think I'm too weak to protect myself?"

The man nodded. "Right away, sir!"

He hurried to the others. Before the alarm sounded, he deployed a device, silencing the pulsing red light. A knowing glance was exchanged across the distance in the darkness, a slight nod from Alexander acknowledging the man's success. The man proceeded.

The garage door creaked open. Working quietly, he pulled it wider with his bare hands, and the men slipped inside one by one. In moments, they vanished.

Alexander checked his phone, replying to several messages, but there was no news of Lily. He took a deep breath, knowing if he was right, contact would soon be made. He looked up at the Moore Residence. It was dark, unusually so for a house of that size. It seemed deserted.

'Something's off!'
